Harry & I have had a lovely day in the Lake District. Every time we go we say we should go more often as it only takes us forty minutes in the car.
The leaves are just beginning to turn golden & it was a glorious day so there were many beautiful views.
We walked round Bo-ness, Windermere, Ambleside & Grasmere.
We nearly called in on a couple who have spent some time at our B&B while John was in Blackpool Victoria Hospital. They live in Grasmere & we could see them in the garden but next time perhaps.
The weather is supposed to turn cold on Friday, down to 6 deg cent.
So behind with my commenting today as i have been out but I will try & catch up later, please forgive me if I slack tonight!!!
Three good things:
1. The beautiful colours of the trees in the Lakes.
2. I bought quite a few Christmas presents for those in NZ.
3. The smell of wood smoke & the sight of smoke coming from the chimneys of the beautiful slate houses.
Simply beautiful, Pat...and so peaceful and serene. I love the line up of wooden boats, as well as the tones of autumn in the trees. So glad you and Harry had a lovely get away day.
That is lovely, so long since I've been in the lakes - I'd say shame on you for not visiting enough even though it's 40 mins away - but then I'm the same and never get to half the stuff that's on my doorstep in London - or Kew - or Epping Forest up the road ...
Fav - I love those rowing boats and I was just thinking yesterday that the colours in the Lakes are stunning at this time of year - in fact I was thinking it may be too late but obviously not. Lucky lucky you!
Glorious Autumnal scene, and I love your point No. 3. really sets the mood. The lasttime I went to Windermere it didn't stop raing, so nice to see it in fair weather, get those thermals out, you may need them!!
