The family bibles. by happypat

The family bibles.

All Harrys family names are in one of these bibles..the date of the births & deaths of all 19 of his aunts & uncles plus the later dates relevant to our family. A bit behind with the records so I must get to it & catch up as soon as the next grandchild is born in December.

Three good things:
1. The man has been to mend the dishwasher so no more washing up by hand!
2. A morning of rain has turned into a sunny afternoon & the washing is blowing in the wind.
3. A brilliant Britain's Best Baker last night so a whole series to enjoy each week.
Aaargh we missed it! Too busy at cricket and forgot to tape it. This is a wonderful shot Pat.

@seanoneill Thank you Sean...I wasnt as happy with it as I thought...a rather dark corner & I had to change the shutter speed & ISO when I am used to auto!! Rather a experimental photo in RAW & manual!!!!

Fav for me Pat - love all the wood and leather and loveliness. How lovely to have all the names. We have some old bibles somewhere (my mum has them I think) but I don't think the names in them actually relate to our family!

Lovely lovely photo of very special contents!
The rain fled and sunny here now too.
I was trying to decorate a birthday cake for two friends while watching the Best Baker last night. Thankfully Mary Berry couldn't see my one!!!

Wonderful to have these bibles with the family records. Nice textures and tones. I inherited a bible after my dad died and through it traced a very sad little story which happened two generations back of a daughter who had an illegitimate baby looked after by the family, then got pregnant again and married just before she gave birth and sadly died a few weeks afterwards.

@quietpurplehaze So sad Hazel , the heartache connected to that story is immense. Thank you for your comment.

@sarah19 I agree Sallie family bibles are a piece of history ....I'm sure your cake knocked spots off the ones on last night, I just thought they made things so difficult for themselves!

@jtookey150 Thank Jean, I love all things wood & leather.....unfortunately in the bags & shoe line too!!

I love the composition and the way the Bibles are stacked under the beam. We have an old family Bible belonging to Peter's family. What a wonderful place to record all those memorable family occasions.

Lovely composition. We have a family bible into which go all the births, marriages and deaths in the family. Except Donna and my wedding details for some reason. I think my parents are trying to tell me something!

@suesmith @busylady @steampowered @willowdragon @barrowlane @maggiemae @mcmary
Sorry for the mass thank you but nearly bed time so short of time.
It is rather nice to have all that history written down & the very fact that it's written by the ancestors is enough in itself!
Could do with a book binder on one of these maggie but that price sounds high!!! Specialist work of course & you have to pay for that!!
