Double Yoked. by happypat

Double Yoked.

Chestnut time again, my daughter has a few large chestnut trees in her garden & when I went yesterday to take some blackberries I picked up some conkers.

This one had two conkers inside the shell.

Three good things:
1. Little Max is much better after his frightening bout of croup in the night.
2. Some of my favourite M&S chilli & coriander noodles in the fridge.
3. ! had £16 worth of M&S vouchers to redeem against some new jeggings.
A very original shot, like it! I also like those M&S vouchers and, like a child, always go over straightaway to redeem them!

@quietpurplehaze @anazad511 Thank you both...I am not really happy with this shot as the background should be pure white & there is shadow there . Should have shot it again but couldn't be bothered!!

Just need the VANS to go with your Jeggings now! Love this shot, newly born twins, all shiny and new. Wonderful autumnal feel

Very autumnal. I really like too - i think the variations of tone in the background add depth without distracting. Better than pure white!
September 23rd, 2013
Two good sized conkers as well - usually one of them is really pathetic! Love the way you've set this up
September 23rd, 2013
Like that

September 23rd, 2013
Great nature shot
September 23rd, 2013
Glad Max is feeling better - one of my kids got croupy quite often. Many midnights spent in the bathroom with the shower running hot. "Conkers" is such a neat name!!
September 23rd, 2013
Super shot and a great still life image -so nicely processed Pat -- a Fav
September 23rd, 2013

Wonderful shot Pat. A fav.
September 23rd, 2013
Ps you should tag it 'theme-autumncolours'
September 23rd, 2013
Conkers are always so tempting to pick up - even though we are no longer children, it's hard to resist.
September 23rd, 2013
i do like a good conker Pat, reminds me of my schooldays and going "conkering in the woods"......do kids still do conkers?...I remember going conckering with my daughters and two of her their friends and getting told off by a 'elf and safety' council officer in our local park, for throwing sticks up in the branches to bring the conkers down....super conker shot Pat :)
September 23rd, 2013
@phil_howcroft I saw a report on TV the other day where they were paying for car parking with conkers...did you see that?
September 23rd, 2013
@happypat no i missed that Pat...was it a regional program or national ?
September 23rd, 2013
Lovely Autumnal still life. Now you need to thread them on some string and start playing.
September 23rd, 2013
@phil_howcroft In Leeds & Manchester Phil...apparently 1,500 conkers have been paid worth £300 on the 19th September & the scheme is to be extended! Funny old world!!
September 23rd, 2013
This is beautifully set with good lighting and a non background which suits this! Is this what they play conkers with and are they called horse chestnuts? I see others have put conkers too! What do you wear your new jeggings with?
September 23rd, 2013
it is a well composed shot! like the minimalist look
September 24th, 2013

September 24th, 2013
@maggiemae I wear jeggings with exactly the same things I would wear jeans with maggie mae, perhaps making sure that they cover the bottom as they are very unforgiving!! I like them because they are slim to the leg , good with boots & make you look thin! They are very popular over here at the moment especially now it's coming winter...perhaps a little hot in summer though. They will be in your shops soon if not already!
@cdonohoue Jeggings are very narrow trousers Cathy almost like tights but much heavier fabric, cotton or denim usually.
September 24th, 2013
@maggiemae Forgot to say conkers are what they play conkers with & they come from the Horse Chestnut tree.
September 24th, 2013
@cdonohoue Forgot to say thanks for the fave Cathy.
September 24th, 2013
@shawnasays Thank you so much Shawna, very kind of you to comment!
September 24th, 2013
@happypat @phil_howcroft Wish I could pay parking in conkers - if I stayed over 2 hours I would need 36. There are so many conkers in Cambridge that Nigel gets quite upset as the kids don't pick them all up. And they are a cycling hazard - cause a lot of people to fall off as well as landing on your head!!
September 24th, 2013
Beautiful!!
September 24th, 2013
@judithg Oh the kids these days have no soul Judith...we would never let them rot in their shells...too many other things on the mind these days & conkers aren't technical!
September 24th, 2013
@carys Thank you Carys!
September 24th, 2013
Great lighting on this. Love it.
