Our kettle sprung a leak yesterday ....wondered where all the water was coming from!
We don't actually use an electric kettle that often as we have the stove top one on the Aga but there are some times when I am full with B&B that I do use more boiling water so need a back up.
Well there are kettles & kettles....the choice is mind blowing!
There are kettles that use wifi & you have a little zapper thing so you can boil the kettle from in bed.
There are kettles that boil water at different temperatures for different teas & coffee......nothing so simple as just pouring water on a tea bag!
Quite difficult choosing a simple kettle as you never know how loud it boils until it's too late .....I am conscious of the loud noise of a boiling kettle when I get up in the night & I have guests in the room above the kitchen
Anyway we bought one....seems to be OK!
Three good things:
1. I have washed my green wool Beneton sweater & it has shrunk nicely...I always felt it was slightly too big!
2. We got a plastic bag from the Salvation Army, it has to be put outside for collection on Monday morning.......I have been clearing out boots & shoes we never wear.
3. A walk round our old stomping ground of Longridge.
Our toaster broke a few weeks ago. In currys I was overwhelmed by the choice! There were some for over two hundred pounds to toast two slices of bread!
@newbank Wow that is so expensive.....I looked at Dualitt toasters today to match the kettle....4 slice ones at £87....was tempted but the other one still works so I couldn't for shame!
Great display in this shop of both kettles and teapots! We got rid of our kettle when we renovated - put in a boiling tap! Its magic - boiling water at all times ( great for filling a hottie in the middle of the night for cramp or because your feet are cold)
What a variety, there are some pretty arty looking kettles there. Some nice teapots too. I still love my Swan Brand teapot though and I don't think you can buy them any more.
@happypat Swan Brand are vintage aluminium tea pots which used to be made in the UK. Mum always had a Swan Brand and I had one for years until it died. Can't beat tea out of a metal tea pot. I did manage to buy one at a car boot sale, so still use it occasionally.
I'd like the one with cats and the one with the dogs. But what i really want is an electronic kettle that is really fast and turns off automatically. Super shot.
@phil_howcroft@cejaanderson None of these on show.....mine is round the other side....a Dualitt jug type nettle shiny & black. Too many to choose from....I knew what make I wanted but the design in the shop wasn't the one I had picked. Dithered about whether to buy on line bu then thought stop fussing it's only a kettle!! Looks smart....would have liked the toaster to match but that will be when ours breaks down! Toasters & kettles are very important in a B&B 's life!!
Love the image, great choice. I'm salivating over the teapots! These all look so modern. As for @maggiemae I've never even heard of a boiling tap! I must be really behind the times!
Wow - what an assortment! (Am partial to the dogs one -lol). I just zap my water in the microwave so it's nice and hot. It would be a shame to cover these with a cozy!
No!! A wifi kettle! Adam is saying what a good idea and he never drinks hot drinks! Nigel is worried about water levels and I always put fresh in ours in the morning. I think ours is KitchenAid - moderately noisy. I'd have come out with an unnecessary teapot as well.
Darling shot, Pat! Love this! The strawberry teapot looks like one my grandmother had forever. My mom has it now. Mine looks very much like one of the sleek stainless steel models...not much personality there I suppose, but it looks good on the stove.
Love your three good things. I'm in the process of filling some bags for our next charity pickup. Always amazes me how much I can find to pass along.
@peggysirk Well Peggy that bag is still outside this afternoon...nobody has been to collect yet! If I remember right,y the same thing happened last time! Will end up taking it to the charity shop myself!
That has happened to me on a number of occasions, @happypat. Kind of annoying when they call the night before and tell you to have your donations out on the porch by 8am. Not to mention the fact that you've spent time getting it all together only to be stood up. :(
@peggysirk I have just rung them & it's Wednesday now Peggy! They all sound the same then here & in your country! I see no one else down the lane has a bag out!
