Our grandson Jack is twenty one today.
He came home from uni at Sheffield for the weekend so all the family got together for a party at his house last night.
I remember vividly the day he was born as we were then living at Inglewhite which is much higher up.
There had been quite a fall of snow plus wind & as we had a half mile farm road to get out onto the main road we were trapped.
I got the car out & I remember getting as far as the dog kennel & the wheels skidding. I tried my very best to get going but impossible to move....you can imagine how frustrating it was!
The other grandparents lived in the village too & they couldn't get out either!!
To make matters worse lower down in Preston at the hospital there was only a smattering of snow.
We are so proud of Jack for pursuing his goal to get to Sheffield & making the most of his opportunities.
I was disappointed with my photos....some were blurred & I should have used my other lens!
Three good things:
1. Grandchildren.
2. Great party food.
3. Families.
This is my sons age, one turns 22 in March and the other 21 in April. I know it is a rough time to be young but there are so many wonderful young adults it gives me a lot of hope for this world
He's such a nice looking young man even if he looks about 15! I know he is important to you in your family so its great to remember his early life as well as being able to celebrate his 21st. A lot of young people just want to have a rip roaring party amongst themselves!
Thank you all. Jack is a very musical lad but he decided not to study music as he's keeping that as a hobby. He is studying Philosophy and Religion at the University of Sheffield. He was interested to listen to one of his lecturers on Desert Island Discs three weeks ago, she was very lively and I think he is lucky to have her!
@guycalledjack No it's just the angle! Hope you had a great day! x
A gorgeous looking young man ,and a lovely casual shot . So lovely to have a family get together to celebrate his 21st birthday A very Happy 21first Birthday Jack !
@newbank No I haven't Ruth....will check her out on my Kindle...always ready for a new author. Just been reading a long Cathy Kelly.......quite light but it was good.
What a lovely young man, you must be very proud of him. Loved the story of his arrival in the world. I hated driving in snow and ice. don't miss that at all.
@happypat@guycalledjack - Happy Birthday Jack! I hope you are finding time for your music, I have so enjoyed listening to you play on your videos...glad you decided to keep it as a hobby - I hope it will bring you continued great pleasure. Have a marvelous year!!!
@bpaquette Thank you so much Barbara for your lovely words....so kind of you & Jack will appreciate them too.....he has gone back to uni today until he's home for Easter.
Oh happy birthday Jack!! 21 years eh - I bet it was really annoying! My dad had to walk miles in a pea soup fog just to tell my grandparents that I was Born - no telephone! Glad Cathy got to the hospital at least- I watched a programme about the hurricane & a poor woman in labour trying to get to hospital and having to keep turning round. And then the doctor and ambulance couldn't get to her either. Think I'd not long had Rachel when I watched the documentary and it made me feel sick!
@phil_howcroft No I forgot Phil....taken pretty quickly as part of a group. Not keen on posing our Jack! Thanks Phil. I realised after I should have used my pancake lens this one was too near at times.
@judithg A nightmare situation Judith specially for the first. I think Cathy was pretty unimpressed that neither mother nor mother in law made it but the vicar did! There was no snow hardly down at Sharoe Green.
What a handsome young man!!! They grow up waaaaayy to fast. Our oldest turned 21 last year and it is so hard to believe. But then my oldest son will be 45 this year! YIKES!
