The indoor market hall is well established in Garstang.
There is a butcher on the left, greengrocers at the back, fantastic cheese counter on the right back & cakes & biscuits on the right hand side.
Just big enough it has a steady trade throughout the year.
I am out this evening for a meal at The Grapes in St Michaels on Wyre.
This pub closed down last year but has been re opened so four of us are going to give it a whirl!
Have tried to catch up commenting so won't get too much behind!
Three good things:
1. I have cleaned a couple of cupboards out this morning....amazing the amount of out of date packets I had!
2. Listening to Flower of Scotland Anthem sung with such pride & gusto this at Murryfield this afternoon ....knocks spots off any football singing!
3. Daffodils in a jug.
Great looking markets,, and sounds like they have all the weekly needs.. Love seeing daffs in a jug, a sure sign that spring /summer is on the way... but you know what that means to us.. :0(
@leananiemand Well it's permanent site so they haven't to keep taking stuff down which makes it easier....rains a lot here so definitely good job it's inside!
Once we swapped just the lead when Jinks was a puppy and one of us let go of it and he went scampering off down a country road. You should have heard me shout 'JINKS!' He must have heard the fear in my voice as he stopped immediately in his tracks. He's never been so obedient since!
It is so good to see these Market Halls remaining in the smaller country towns ! We have quite a substantial one in Wellington (Shrops ) but it is amazing how so many of the stalls have changed hands over the years ! We have a couple of butcher stalls, bacon ,cheese , egg , and farmer's stalls as well as a couple of grocery stalls , flower stalls , card , stalls , biscuits, cakes , W.I. stalls ,pet food stalls, then there is clothing ,haberdashery , household linens , and general D.I.Y. stalls and two self contained cafés --without the Market Hall ,Wellington would be so impoverished !! And it is open on four days a week !
Nice procession of a candid scene with the interesting colour of purple! That lady is doing all the ordering of her hubby, "You give me that before you drop it George - the dog will pull you over!' Don't fall in the Wye!
Lovely candid street shot Pat.Love the couple. The lady is definitely in charge! We only have our twice weekly outdoor market but it's very good. The local WI take over the Town Hall every Friday and sell loads of homemade goodies.
Looks like a fabulous market! I could see myself doing some shopping there. Hope you had a wonderful time out with friends...and I love your three good things! There's nothing sweeter than daffodils in a jug!!
