Walking down into Hornby by happypat

Walking down into Hornby

What a fantastic day.......sun & blue sky, I think we have left winter behind!

Another walk photo, this one is the view as we came over the hill from yesterday's picture.

Three good things:
1. I have finished decorating our bedroom today, just the remaining two walls & everything back in its place! I would be more pleased if I liked the colour better! Purbeck Stone from F&B but it's a sort of grey colour which looks modern but I don't think I would have picked it again!
2. I found a large box of Maltesers under the wardrobe! A forgotten Christmas present I had bought last year!
3. A long talk to Max on Skype this morning.
Fantastic perspective to capture this excellent image. That is a steep road.

Great pov! I can't help but imagine the history on that hill overlooking such an amazing spot

lovely place to stretch your legs a bit.

Lovely view and a nice place to walk. I will be walking lots on the weekend, but around a 400m circuit to raise money for cancer research - an event called relay for life.

Lucky you to have blue sky and sunshine - it has been grey and cloudy all day here. Nice composition
March 19th, 2015
love how this draws the eye , the hedge is like a frame
March 19th, 2015
I think I'd rather walk than run down here! We have had cold and grey today.

Bep
Lovely view!
March 19th, 2015
Love those high hedges. I think you have to accessorise grey walls! I need to do our bedroom but we need new wardrobes & we've got a new car instead...
March 19th, 2015
@judithg give me the car anyway Judith! Yes younare probably right about the walls ...I need new bedding perhaps!
March 19th, 2015
@shutterbugger There is a cast,e in Hornby so there is a fair bit of history in this village Jen.
March 19th, 2015
@pandorasecho Thank you Dixie.....you feel rejuvenated after a walk don't you?
March 19th, 2015
@rosiekind Two good days in a row for us!
March 19th, 2015
@pinkpaintpot Thank you !inda..... I like the hedges at the sides of the road too.
March 19th, 2015
@quietpurplehaze No running for us now Hazel....in fact I need to buy a walking poleM
March 19th, 2015
Lovely! The luxury of getting out in fresh air regularly! This is a lovely view...I'm guessing easier to go down than to come up at the end of a walk!
March 19th, 2015
@gijsje Thank you Bep.
March 19th, 2015
@happypat

Ray already has one - for rambling!
March 19th, 2015
@sarah19 This was just before lunch so about half way Sallie......I must say I liked the contrast of fields & villages. I'm not one that likes to tramp over fields for ever!
March 19th, 2015
What - you had a sun all day today? Lucky you, it's been grey and overcast here all day.
March 19th, 2015
@happypat Yes, you know when I was depressed and really sedentary a good friend told me that a lot of people would be delighted to have the gift I had of being able to walk to the mailbox and I should do it every day. He also said that the person you are after exercising is always better than the person you were before you started. So I started adding in random bursts of movement and getting happier by the day. Now I need to get outdoors, well I did then too, but now I recognize that fact.
March 19th, 2015
@pandorasecho So good that walking makes you feel good.....leave everything else & get outside is the answer!
March 19th, 2015
Charming view! This is a real dip - only to be found in England, perhaps! Remember when I was there and you just topped the hill then there was another village! Walkable villages that we don't have! fav
March 19th, 2015
Wonderful view great capture, like it.,
That looks a steep hill, always nice walking down but not so good walking back :-)
March 19th, 2015
Love the way the road dips over the brow of the hill and in to the distance!
March 19th, 2015
What a dip -- great for my mobility scooter to go down -- but I think it would struggle coming up ! for that kind of gradience I would need a stronger motor !! Is this the Hornby of Hornby pottery ?-- If So my late husband & I used to buy ourselves an anniversary present when on our summer hols One year we bought a couple of Framed wall plaques in Hornby Pottery -- must be over 45 yrs ago -and I still have them on the wall in the dining room !-- may take a photo of them one of these days !
March 19th, 2015
@beryl Well I would hate to see you bombing down there on your scooter Beryl..doubt you would ever be able to stop! I had to google Hornby Pottery as I did know the name but wasn't sure where it came from. There is a place next to the Auction Mart in Lancaster that used to sell what I thought was Hornby Pottery but now realise was Hornsea Pottery. Hornsea is over on the East coast somewhere but their stuff used to sell at this place in Lancaster. There are no pottery works in this Hornby so perhaps it's another Hornby do you think? I would like to see your plaques one day.
March 19th, 2015
@maggiemae Thank you Maggiemae....lots of hills around here! Not good for cycling unless you have gone electric!!
March 19th, 2015
@bizziebeeme No indeed Laura! We did not have to walk back this way thank goodness.
March 19th, 2015
@helly31 A dip in the road is quite exciting when you are walking...we couldn't wait to get to the top to see what was over the hill!
March 19th, 2015
@happypat Aaaw !! my mistake !! what a fool !!--It must have been a senior moment !! lol !! The Plaques are Hornsea Pottery ! Shall photograph them one day !
March 19th, 2015
Oooh that looks steep
March 19th, 2015
Fab pov and the hedges make great framing. Love that view down the steep hill.
March 19th, 2015
@beryl No worries Beryl, I thought you were right , it was only when I googled infemember the proper name!
March 19th, 2015
@sharrystar @jennywren Thank you both.....it actually looks steeper than it was..I don't remember it being that steep when walking downM
March 19th, 2015
Fabulous POV. I'd rather be walking down this path than up it. This reminds me of a mug my daughter bought David a few years ago. It had written on it "Over the hill and round the bend".
March 19th, 2015
@onewing oh dear poor David.....I'm sure he's not that at all specially when he can drive all those miles!!
March 19th, 2015
i love those big hedges / bushes Pat
