I came across The Cavern Club quite by accident this morning in Liverpool. Just strolling around on my own & looked down a side street & there it was!
Cilla Black was my era so it was quite a shock when she died on Saturday.
I was never a Beatle fan but it was interesting to see where all the sixties action was.
I was so impressed with Liverpool itself. I think only the third time I have ever been there but the buildings were magnificent, art galleries & museums looked interesting.......Jackson Pollock was showing at The Tate.
The Albert Dock a vibrant & spacious area with the River Mersey as wide & vital to Liverpool as always.
Three good things:
1. A fabulous day out with friends.
2. I was able to go off on my own between meals with camera doing my own thing which I love best.
3. The nicest G&T I have ever had, served in a large balloon glass with a slice of red grapefruit, ice & two juniper berries.
I am shattered tonight so might not be much commenting until tomorrow!
Fabulous street shot, Millie and I love Liverpool we used to go sale shopping 27th - 29th December staying at the Premier Inn at the Al;bert Dock... We had such fun great laugh. Millie is hoping next year to go to Liverpool Uni...... but with only 15 places....but she is working hard to get the best possible results, experience and putting together a perfect personal statement ...fingers crossed.
Nice to hear about Liverpool where I have never been. Everybody seems to be focusing on this Club - is it famous and is it like a Club with loud music and dancing? These guys don't look like they would dance!
@maggiemae an iconic Liverpool spot where the sixties music was born. The Beatles used to play here plus Cilla Black who has just died. Lots of famous sixties singers & groups performed or were discovered in this club. The people outside were mostly sightseers visiting to look at the floral tributes for Cilla.
@bizziebeeme I do hope she gets in.....what dies she want to study that there are only 15 places? Lydia is hoping to get into Manchester where there are just 40 places.
That's a lovely shot and particularly memorable for you given the news last weekend. Cilla was such a lovely lady and always seemed to bring out the best in others!
Great capture Pat and I love your processing. Haven't been to Liverpool for years but I do remember being surprised at how much interesting architecture there was. So sad about Cilla. She was such a character and so talented.
so sad to here of Cilla. We always used to watch her show on Saturday nights and my daughter when she was around 3 would dress up and dance the whole show through
Great shot and so sad that Cilla has died. I went to the original Cavern in Liverpool in the 60s a few times when I was a teenager. I had an Auntie who lived on the other side of the river.
I saw Cilla at the cavern a couple of times at the Cavern before she became famous.
@happypat Paramedic science, She was hoping to go this year but she did not have enough ucas points as she did one year of A'levels first ... we guided into an accountancy career but she decided that was to boring for her she Defiantly wants to be a Paramedic So we said go for it !!. So she left Grammar as they would not let her drop two subjects and to Pysology so to collage she went and I've got to say it was the BEST choice she is so happy......
@bizziebeeme Well that is a very worth while carreer Laura. I thoghtbitbmust be something in that line as there were so few places.
Same with speech therapy the NHS will only train the number they need. Free courses too so over subscribed. Good luck to your daughter & hope she gets in to her chosen uni. Lydia will know next Thursday whether she has got into Manchester.
@onewing Well why does that not surprise me Babs.......I can just imagine you were at the Cavern......quite a memory to have , you were very lucky to be on the spot! I just missed all that as I got married in 1962 so wasn't into living it up just then. We were into young farmer dances. They were such fun with live bands too. Those were the days!
Great street photo and tribute to Cilla.
thanks for the catch up on my pics the other day :)
I thought of you today, we went to the Bakewell Show in the Peak District, lots of farmers, cows, sheep and some fab photo opportunities
