I haven't done a thing today except watch four back episodes of Doctor Foster on BBC IPlayer.
Everyone kept saying how gripping it's been so thought I would check it out today as there is only one episode left this week.
It lived up to expectations!
This is Great Eccleston High Street, or part of it anyway. The Community Centre you can see there was once the bank & of course banks seem to be closing down all over the place but this one is well used & a great asset to the village.
Run by volunteers it provides classes of all types from belly dancing to history society.
The newsagents is always very busy & is soon to incorporate the Post Office.
I took this photo one day last week around 8am so you can se a few school children waiting under the bus shelter for their school bus to take them to school.
Tired this weekend so have been a bit lax with my comments ...sorry.
Three good things:
1. A very lazy day!
2. The painters still came, well two of them have worked both days of the weekend. Going to rain tomorrow so working while they can.
3. Since I upgraded my iPad to the latest Apple update the information of date, time etc has miraculously reappeared on my 365 posts!
A very smart and tidy High Street - and indeed school children! Doctor Foster has been excellent - Wednesday is going to be exciting - Bake off Final followed by Dr Foster finale!
What a lovely neat little village.. I note you have not mentioned the rugby.. very sad for you all.. had hoped you would give Aus a run for their money.. so all your support will have to go our way now..
@beryl no litter Beryl......not a scrap. We are a tidy village & there is a lady called Maureen who is not very well mentally & she goes round picking every scrap,of litter that is dropped , she goes through the litter bins too but never gets it out only puts it in. She is part of the village & everyone knows her.
This scene is so familiar to you and other English people but so different to us. I love that English feel about places like this I'll have to watch out for Dr Foster and then get no work done!
@maggiemae Thank you Maggienae. Should have explained that the last white gable end on the right is the butchers shop. To the left & out if view is a good ladies clothes shop & a pub. Then further to the left is the bakery & the prescient Post Offuce. Across the road behind me is an estate agents, cafe, dentist ,barbers, men's clothes shop & beauty treatment salon plus another pub then a little veggie shop. That is the High street.
Such a charming village shot! I just love this. So glad you have been enjoying a relaxing Sunday, Pat. I've been doing the same, only watching football...I've about had my fill of football for the weekend. ☺
That's nice to see! We've had fish and chips from the shop there on at least one our visits and Allan said he and Jonathan and Wiki had some when they were on the 'LEJOG' cycle 3 years ago. How time flies!
I really must pay Great Eccleston a visit as it looks lovely :)
