One pink apple by happypat

One pink apple

I stopped at the end of the drive & took a quick shot with my phone of all these fallen apples.
I feel guilty every time I see them as I don't like to see them wasted. We did offer them to enyone who wanted & some came & picked but even after I used some & froze lots there are still so many left!

It's a very prolific tree!

Three good things:
1. I put Vicks on the soles of my feet at bedtime last night, sound odd but it's supposed to cure a cough. Well I still have the cough & sore throat this morning but boy where my feet warm!
2. I bought two rather cute tee shirts for £5 at Tesco. White with a pictures of a pair of walking boots & the caption is Boys Rule, one age 2 & one age 5.
3. A casserole in the oven before I went out!
That is one incredibly prolific apple tree! Wishing that I were your neighbor. ☺
So sorry about your cough and sore throat, Pat. But I like that foot warming technique. ☺ Hope you're feeling better in short order!
And those tee shirts sound absolutely adorable!

Yes I try to use up all the apples too, but lots of ours got wasted this year. Peter has had a nasty cough for over a month - perhaps I'll suggest the Vick treatment!

The birds may come and feast on them when the weather turns cold . If I was nearer I would have loved some !!! I hope your cough does not settle with you ,we have been coughing since before Christmas and I have been smearing Vick o my chest and the last few nights on the sole of my feet -- but I am afraid still coughing !

Bep
A paradise for birds, all these apples!

@peggysirk @busylady @beryl Well Peggy, Beryl & Judith the Vicks solution is a bit of a disappointment but I will try it again tonight. I do love the comforting smell of Vicks & my feet were warm! There are a lot of theses tickly coughs about, we could do with a bit of frost to kill the bugs!

@gijsje Yes I didn't think of the birds Bep, that makes me feel better.

Nicely captured. My apple tree was loaded last summer, must have been about a 100lbs

I think the hate of waste was instilled in our post-war upbringing by our parents - mine was definitely. The pink apple is an individualist!

@carolmw Yes lots of fruit this year & they are Bramleys too so it's a very useful tree to have in the garden.

@quietpurplehaze I'm sure you're right Hazel.....waste not want not!

They definitely won't be wasted. They'll be eaten by all manner of birds and beasties. True recycling!

The tree is certainly bare! Are there any donkeys around who would love these apples - or horses? You could put them all in a bin and stamp on them like grapes to make cider? Yuk - you would get all the pips between your toes!

It happens I guess ... my Dad had too many this year. The parakeets like them!

Such a lot of apples. Hope you are feeling better soon. We came home from New Zealand with sore throats and coughs. Better now though. didn't know about the Vick treatment. ha ha.

@maggiemae I like it Maggienae......a wine maker I will be!

@helly31 Would be great to have parakeets eating them!

@onewing Still coughing tonight but no place to go so it's OK. Will try the Vicks again tonight. Hope you are better now, it's hard work being on holiday!

Nice eye and composition

Love this....great composition in this shot. Maybe you need a goat to eat up all those apples. Are good for cooking? I really like this shot Pat

That's like my Mom's apple tree as well

I'm sure Vick didn't mind being in bed with you as well. Can't you pick up all those apples and press them into cider, I'll help you test it.
January 9th, 2016
@ladymagpie He he Heather, I'm sure he didn't! Cider sounds a great idea, never though if that! Would be quite easy to make I expect, not the proper stuff you buy in the supermarket but a rough homemade version.

So many apples! ..... you need a cider press lol :)

So many apples I know the feeling. You run out of apple recipes after a while. My friends sister, who lives in South Africa, has a similar problem with her bananas!
