The largest public library in the UK, I was very impressed with this fantastic library.
Any of you that know me know how I love reading so to me a day spent here would be heaven.
Gardens on the roof, place to eat & massive of books, maps, computers......you could live there for a week!
The outside is very unusual too with swirly art work over the whole building, you can just see the swirls through the back windows.
Joyce & I gave up on the lift & climbed lots of stairs as well as using the state of the art flat excavators.
Thank you on behalf of @thistle & I for your lovely comments on our photo with the famous bull of Birmingham.
Three good things:
1. I took Jack to the railway station as he set off for his holiday in Japan this morning, he was very excited!
2. A new ap called Overdrive which lets you download books from a public library to your iPad free. You just have to have a library ticket from that library( not the smaller ones) download the ap & you're away!
3. I might actually save a bit of money with #2 GT!
giggled at your lift comment. I went with my mum when benji was a baby and sammy about 3 when it first opened. We went downstairs to the childrens library. After half an hour waiting for a lift we gave up and unpacked the pushchair and did a crazy stint with babies, bags, toddlers, pushchair up the escalators!!
Love Birmingham., hubby and I will often take a minute I break there ... Concerts, exhibitions, 'wild at art' trails... Any excuse really 😀 The library is awesome hubby and I have visited it., just need to get better at taking photos as it is quite amazing.... A bit self conscious as always, but I hope our next trip to Birmingham I will get better shots . Lovely capture.
Its interesting that we all like reading and so love libraries! All those stories hidden behind covers! Imagine having an eating place in a library - have to have a basin for washing hands before picking up books!
What a library - I would get lost in there!
