Those distant hills by happypat

Those distant hills

A clear view to the Lake District from Clevelys this afternoon.
Not often you can see them very clearly but they were particularly near today.
A gorgeous afternoon at the seaside, warm & sunny with no wind. All the children were stuck in school missing the lovely weather.

Thank you all for your kind concern about my ankle after my walk, I did intend to answer all your comments last night but the new B&B came in for a chat so time went on.
It's fine today thank you.

Three good things:
1. Lunch out, a glass of white wine & Swallows & Amazons at the cinema.
2. We just about managed to stay awake watching quite a slow film. Wine in the afternoon is fatal!
3. Bake off tonight.
Lovely scene, I like the lines graduating downwards. We took the kids to see Pete's Dragon the other day and I felt a bit like that too (with no wine!) Yay for Bake Off ! :-)

A lovely seaside scene

@jesperani this film was a children's one but I loved the book but of course times change & although they added a big of a spy twist it was really quite tame. I can't imagine today's kids finding it very riveting!

@brennieb Cheers then Brenda! Yes ankle fine today thank you. Off to Westmorland show tomorrow so lots of walking!

@quietpurplehaze I really fancied sitting in the sun, too nice to sit in the cinema I think!

@carolmw Yes & lots quieter than Blackpool just down the road!

Lovely shot!

A lovely view. Interesting to see all that seating on the sand. One of our local harbour beaches has had a sea wall collapse and so far we are a year down the track and no consent to get it mended!

Lovely shot Pat, it's been beautiful here too,

Fresh and breezy sea view! Swallows and Amazons ... one of my fave childhood stories. A new film or the one filmed in the 70's (a childhood friend of mine starred as Peggy!).

Great shot and lines.. Yes @dide steps like this would be great down at The Sandspit.. we will probably have the orange mesh around the wall for another 4-5 years yet...

-How lovely to be by the seaside -- with all that fresh air -- so stifling here today !

Lovely view Pat.

@helly31 A new film Helen. It was ok & scenery lovely but not that riveting somehow. I think I was remembering it through rose coloured glasses!
September 7th, 2016
@dide @julzmaioro Yes those steps are all the way along & really great for sitting on. The tide comes right up over the top at high tide.
September 7th, 2016
I was going to ask about the steps then see you answered them as above! I don't know how you get the time to post let alone comment with all your busy events and B&B necessities! Swallows and Amazons was slow?? I can see you have also answered that query above!
September 7th, 2016
@maggiemae Yes it was but they had jazzed it up,a little with Russian spies! No life belts on those kids either!
September 7th, 2016
That looks a beautiful beach, would have been packed with children last week!
September 7th, 2016
I really like all those steps going down. Thanks for info above.
September 7th, 2016
All that beautiful blue. Love it!
September 7th, 2016
@maggiemae I missed half of bake off as the same new B&B came in to book other nights & pay, I must say he is a very interesting guy! Off to the agriculture show tomorrow! Lots of photo ops!
September 7th, 2016
Oh I'd like to see Swallows and Amazons. Did you enjoy it? The sun didn't get out here until 5pm so quite a cloudy day today. You sunny day pic looks lovely.
September 7th, 2016
Lovely shot, the seating reminds me of the amphitheatres in Cyprus.
September 8th, 2016
@busylady well I can't say I didn't enjoy but was slightly disappointed. Sometimes things from the past disappoint in the present! If I hadn't had a glas of wine & delicious lunch I might have stayed awake more to watch every minute! It was slightly boring for adults & yet I can't imagine the kids of today finding it riveting either! If you have nothing else to do on a wet day go but I think you would find it a waste of your valuable time Judith!

What a great idea to have the steps leading down to the beach along the seafront like this. Lovely Indian summer's day.
September 8th, 2016
I remember I was given a copy of Swallow and Amazons as a child but I dont think I found the book memorable. Beach looks lovely. The tide must be very high to cover the steps.

Just beautiful Pat
