Evening meal in the oven, Pointless on the TV & a gin & tonic in my glass, definitely my favourite time of day!
I have been for a well woman check up today.
All is very well, cholesterol low, blood pressure low, weight good but she suggested I did without my G&T a few evenings a week!
Well that's a non starter for sure, if I had health problems I might consider it but as I am as fit as she could hope for I am not doing it!
She laughed when I said that!
Three good things:
1. So happy & thankful I am lucky enough to have good health & I'm not making light of it.
2. NHS coming up to scratch offering these check ups.
3. Two free nights of B&B. I do like doing it but occasionally it's good to have the house to ourselves.
Very welcoming... love the warm glow, and the nicely chilled g&t ... and of course Aotearoa .. well done on your health check and stick to your guns we all need a wee treat..
There are several songs about 'favourite time of day' and it seems to be true for so many especially me as well! I know I should have a couple of alcohol free days but like you, I'm well and with low blood pressure etc and it brings a great feeling of contentment to me.
You have set the scene so tidy and interesting with the choice of light, bowl of fruit and books, set place on the table and radio and TV!
@jmj Good heLth is taken advantage when you're young but now I have got to the age I am you treasure it Jennifer! Mind you I do take a lot of time trying to eat healthily, no cream cakes for me which is hard sometimes!
@maggiemae I think the pleasure of a G&T outways the so called harm it might do to my liver. Apparently if the liver is overloaded with alcohol it raises the cholesterol level!! Contentment is the best thing in every part of your life. You notice I have gone 'red' for winter?
Love your kitchen photos! Great to get the best results in health checks. I had one +ve result last week and a different one next week so it's great to have these in place to stay in touch with how we're doing!
Enjoy the G&T. ....I'm allergic to quinine in tonic so can't have that particular pleasure!
A lovely cosy scene. I love a house that is lived in. My sister in laws house is almost empty, like a show house and I never feel comfortable there because you always feel as though you might just mess things up by simply being there. She must have nightmares when she visits us, ha ha.
I like to watch Pointless while I'm cooking dinner. I'm sure the occasional G&T is not doing you any harm. I think sometimes they feel they have to find something to justify your visit.
Yes I like this time of day too and my tipple is a glass of white wine but unlike you I have high blood pressure and cholesterol but if I am going to die I would rather die happy than having a long miserable life but I do try to eat healthily and go walking every day so my weight stays stable and within normal limits
@sarah19 I hope all goes well with results for you Sallie! My girl did all the results there & then so no waiting. Mind you they were only the usual basic stuff.
Such a warm cosy glow in your Kitchen Pat , and love the way you at in your red for winter ! Glad all went well with your annual check up --mine was just my monthly blood test which I have to have to check on the different functions in the body as I am on a rather formidable medication -there is always side effects to these drugs unfortunately ! My favourite tipple was G&T but unfortunately I can not mix alcohol with the drugs I am on !!
Sounds a nice soup -- and its soup time again -- love home made soups !
Love this warm and cozy image...a perfect way to bring the day to a close. And as a non-medical professional, might I suggest that your evening G&T might be one of the reasons all of your blood work and test results were so good. :)
@beryl Thanks Beryl, I know your health isn't always as good as you would hope so it's with a grateful heart I enjoy my health at the moment even though it's not been a great year what with the accidents. It just goes to show things can change in a flash so enjoy while you can! I read in a magazine today of a drink called Seedlip which drunk with tonic water is as nice as a G&T but no alcohol. I'm going to google it!
This looks such a cosy kitchen Pat, set off perfectly by G & T time. I decided to give up alcohol in August 2014 and have to say I do feel so much better for it. But a little of what you fancy is never a bad thing and if you can moderate (I find difficulty with that be it sweets, biscuits, projects etc. etc.) then go for it!
@jackie8 Too be honest Jackie we never had any drink in the house when we were a bit younger & only ever had a drink at Christmas & New Year but times change & I enjoy my nightly drink. Harry is practically tea total so he's healthy ha ha!

Thank you all wish we could all have a cosy night in at my place!
