A trip to Beetham Nurseries near Milnthorpe today to look at Acer trees.
We have a space in the wood & thought a beautiful red leafed Acer would look good in there.
Alas only the large & very expensive ones left. I think we left it a bit late.
Had our lunch in the very nice cafe & then looked round the shop. This beautiful rug took our eye & thought it perfect to sit in our kitchen in front of the Aga.
We are pleased with it but no Acer this year!
Three good things:
1. A very enjoyable rare day out.
2. Chatting to a couple on the table next to ours.
3. I bought some gorgeous Christmas cards for special family.
Ah well you can look at your beautiful rug all year until it's time to buy one. You could also try the nurseries rather than the garden centres. They may sell bare root trees which will probably be cheaper and won't go in until November.
A lovely rug and such a cosy corner by the Aga ! The rug will give you the cosiness and beautiful colours 24/7 while the Acer ,being and deciduous tree will soon shed its leaves very soon and will only have bare branches till Spring time !! Now you have your rug -- the tree can be next on your bucket list !
@beryl Exactly as we thought Bery & my feet are on the rug now. We haven't had one down for a while as we have an elderly cat who had an accident on the last one!! We have vowed to roll this up every night to be safe!
I think this fabulous rug was a wonderful substitute purchase! Maybe next spring or fall you can find the right sized tree.
This is such a cozy scene...you're all ready for the cold days of winter to come.
I thought you were talking about the rugs on the chairs at first then I realise its the one on the floor! Very nice and bright! I would have had one there for ages - sheepskins here - so good if a spark jumps out of the fire - they don't burn. There you are - buying Christmas but thats good to be organised!
@maggiemae we've had lots of rugs down here in the past Maggie but what with various animals over the years they have been changed pretty often. Have been without fir too long but we both liked this one & it was very expensive!
Very inviting.
