Second earlies going in today.
We have decided we aren't planting any main crop this time as it's the new potatoes that are so delicious.
Three good things:
1. Jack has been here all afternoon sorting out our computers & iPads.
2. I have sanded down some cupboards ready for painting!
3. My sister sounded cheerful & upbeat this morning when I rang her. She has had a couple of years of ill health so was good to hear a more positive tone.
Nice shot. When are the new potatoes ready to eat? I remember my father-in-law always tried to have them ready to eat on the 2nd of June, because that was his wife's birthday.
Nice raised garden looking so weed free! Potatoes take up so much space and really they are cheap enough at the markets. New potatoes keep their lovely texture when stored in the garden too!
Doesn't time fly -- it doesn't seem to be 12 months ago since you posted a similar scene ! I remember it so well as I marvelled at the raised bed and tidiness of it all . Nice to see a man enjoying and working at his garden !
@beryl thanks Beryl, yes I remember posting pretty much the same photo, last year too! Night very adventurous at the moment! I have no enthusiasm to go out specially to take new photos like I used to do. X
@onewing Yes he has been very busy today plus he's cat & hen minding fir next door too at the moment. It means he had to go out in the middle of the evening when it's going dark to shut next doors hens up & let the cat in or out depending!
I agree about buying potatoes as they do take up so much room however new potatoes... very nice. I love that pop of orange and the tidy raised garden bed. I just managed to weed mine ready to put them to bed for the winter. I might have take a photo for the record. How about a photo of your sanded cupboards? Doesn't your work deserve to be displayed too?
@kiwinanna I have to paint them yet Liana! They are a rather yellowish pine at the moment so I have decided to paint them a sort of Matt white, making the bedroom much lighter. Will show you when finished!
I love this wonderful springtime shot. Beautiful soft spring colors...and springtime chores. A delightful scene! So glad that your sister sounded perky and positive, Pat. I know that lifted your spirits.
I love new potatoes and I do miss Jersey potatoes sometimes.
