I wasn't the only photographer out & about yesterday. This guy had a very big lens & looked far more professional than me. Strangely he wasn't taking photos of the worst waves but had his back to the sun & pointing at the North Pier end where the waves didn't seem to be as dramatic.
I must thank everyone for all the lovely complimentary comments on yesterday's two storm photos. I did try doing individual thank you's but ran out of steam!
Might be the most faves I have ever had in almost eight years!
Three good things:
1. The salt spray on my lips yesterday.
2. All the Christmas decorations down & boxed in the attic again.
3. Catch up TV to watch Girlfriends which started last night.
@motherjane@brennieb this is the Comedy Carpet, it's a massive tiled square on the promenade in front of Blackpool Tower. Jokes & funny sayings from mostly Northern comedians such as Morecambe & Wise, Norman Wisdom, Ken Dodd etc. It's quite a feature in town.
Whatever he was doing -- an ideal pop of red for you in your shot ! Same here , all the decorations came down and boxed and today Gary has put them in the attic for me ! -- till next Christmas !!
@happypat@motherjane@brennieb Just butting in to point out that my old university friend commissioned the Comedy Carpet! She’s in charge of arts in Blackpool and did some fancy thing at the illuminations as well.
@judithg Well good for her, it's one of the best innovations on the newly designed promenade! Very popular & it dies make you laugh! Congratulations to your friend Judith! Have you seen it on your visits up north?
@happypat I have some nice photos of Rachel and my nieces having their hair blown up in the air and just about staying grounded - in August! 2016 it was & at least meant we had it to ourselves. Also snuck into the Tower Ballroom- they know how to charge there!
@judithg Ah yes it would be quiet then, no holiday makers! The Tower is very expensive but you have to go & see the ballroom if only once! Did you never go dancing in the ballroom in your youth, you missed a treat
@suesmith thank you Sue & yes you must go & see the carpet & take your chap dancing in the Tower Ballroom than afterwards fish & chips at Harry Ramsdons!
@motherjane Well it's a place you either hate or like. I used to be in the first group but now I'm quite fond of Blackpool, it's a place to go & you can do exactly as you please, people watching is great too. I dont go that often but it's the quickest big town to get to from my house.
Great composition with those big waves and that lovely splash of red Pat. I think I could do with revisiting Blackpool. I used to go regularly back in the dark ages!!
@beryl Great to actually get the house tidy again isn't it Beryl. I love the tree shining brightly but it was beginning to look very dried up, I always feel guilty about the poor thing crying out for water even though there is water in the container.
A fabulous capture Pat. The biggest lens definitely doesn’t mean the best photographer. I really want to go to Blackpool. Everything is possible now I’m retired 😁😁.
@quietpurplehaze@jackie8 Thank you both, I really enjoyed my trip to the sea it was worth every bit of spray that caught me to get these photos & I hate the sea!
