This is our wonderful local hardware shop.
Known locally as Alfs after the late owner it's a treasure trove of stuff.
Selling anything from sewing cotton to rat poison & everything in between it's an enormous shop run now by mum Yvonne & her daughter.
I called in for a light bulb & took a couple of sneaky photos. This is only the sight you see when you walk in the door, it turns to the left & then to the right where there are three aisles.
Three good things:
1. No cinema today, we set off but we're beaten by the traffic queues at road works, came the back way home & called for a coffee in the village cafe.
2. Traffic news on the radio.
3. Talk to my sister in Norfolk on the phone.
@beryl@newbank@maggiemae The heart of a village it's a wonderful shop to have, so glad we are not the only shop like this around! Exactly like that shop in Open all Hours. That follow on programme is on every Sunday night at the moment maggie. Now called Still Open all Hours it's as good as ever but without Ronnie Barker of course but otherwise David Jason who is now the owner & lots of the original cast.
What a fabulous shop. My Mum used to have a grocery store when we were kids and close by was a shop just like this. We used to call it the Pot Shop because not only did it sell the things seen here it also used to sell single plates, bowls, cups and saucers etc too. I used to love going in there and having a browse around when I was a child.
