I love having all the lamps on in the house. I hardly ever put the ceiling lights on & would rather grope about in a soft light than have a harsh overhead light on.
If I was ever fortunate to build a house from scratch the lighting would come almost top of the list.
Three good things:
1. A whole evening of Masters golf from that wonderful Augusta golf course. I love watching golf, I don't play but it's my idea of sport, no running or anything too exhausting that makes you sweat!
2. A good couple of days preparing for our dinner dance next weekend.
3. The smell of new mown grass.
@huvesaker I can never understand why younwould have a top light on as your only light. We rent out half our house as a seperate dwelling & the present tennents only use the top lights, I even hate driving past & seeing them on from the outside as I think it spoils the look of the whole house, how sad is that? The said tenants are splitting up & leaving end of April.
@happypat sad when people split up but at least the top lights won't be on anymore! HAHAHAHA I am the same, Like driving up to our home when I see the warm glow of lamps and candles...lol Not sad at all, perfectly normal if you ask me!
@huvesaker exactly what I feel Boo, I like the house to look cosy & that darn light shining has driven me mad all winter! I glad you think I'm as normal as you! 😀
Looks lovely. I like low-lighting too, but sometimes don't have the time to switch them all on and off...! Tonight feels particularly relaxed as I have the lamps on :)
Lovely warm image. I like lamps but good strong lighting (maybe from the top) is number one for me. Sorry to buck the trend. Lucky you’re not my neighbour Pat or @huvesaker
That's beautiful and I so agree!! Give me soft glow, candles, gentle lamps every time.
Though when the sunlight is strong at this time of year it does get me going to clean and clear corners that I haven't noticed for a wee while and windows that let the light in!!
Up at Mum's for a few days....choices are about doing things I notice or taking time to 'be' with her. A little bit of both!! Feeling grateful anyway.
I love the smell of new-mown grass too. I took my camera to the
hairdresser’s today and walked back to a house with a lovely magnolia in the garden. A gent was mowing the extensive grass so I waited until he had his back to me to take the shot.! And I love soft lighting too
@dide Looks like it Dianne but dintbyou think it's different fir different countries, we have such a long winter that we like to get under the blankets & snuggle in. Northern hemisphere is not as bright & you have longer summers.
@sarah19 I know what you mean about the light showing up,the cobwebs, keep the lights down low & no one will see them!! I think you're right about spending time with mum rather than bustling about doing jobs, she needs quality time & you will never regret the quite companiable moments, everything else can wait I reckon.
Your home always looks so inviting Pat. Just my cup of tea with the low level lighting. A home not a house. The first cut of the season? I can smell it from here.
Much more ambience with lamps - but got to find enough wall plugs in the right place. Nice to see the situation here - very homely and softly beautiful! I'm watching the Commonwealth Games! Perhaps your tv channels are not showing them! England is doing well!
It looks so cosy. We don't have full lights on very often either. Wall lights in the lounge room with dimmers as well as the main lights and the other rooms all have ceiling lights with dimmers.
A lovely homely capture. I love to have lots of soft lighting but I do need some bright lights too for when I’m reading or sewing or something like that. My eyes aren’t great these days and I need light.

It's good to be different!
