I love the Ryder Cup, nothing like it for the atmosphere, competivness & sheer excitement between the two teams.
We are dithering about lighting the wood burning stove but I know if we do we will be too hot as it's not quite cold enough yet. Might light it tomorrow when we are in all day!
Three good things:
1. I did 5,985 steps this morning so feel less guilty about sitting down all afternoon!
2. I had a nice chat about golf with an elderly chap over the bags of sweets for sale in Booths this morning. He was partial to a jelly baby while watching the golf!
3. Harry saw a fox pass in front of our kitchen window yesterday morning, one of Amanda's hens was just in front, it saw Harry & scarpered!
Fascinated to read this as I just saw on my Facebook a friend write "so bored - husband watching the Ryder Cup and commenting on every single shot......"
We won't light our woodburning stove yet. You can get that awful smoke experience if you light it too early when the temperature differential between inside and outside is insufficient to get a good draw! But then you may well be colder ooop north :)
@casablanca Luckily Harry & I both like watching so we can bore each other! I feel for your friend though as I get fed up with football. It's the commenting all the time that gets you! 😆 Yes the fire dies burn brighter in the cold. I don't want to light it then have to let it out because we are too hot so we just have the electric on & can put the heating on if it's too chilly later.
Not my cup of tea Pat (although I did not object to watching it when Rod was alive )- but lovely to watch especially both of you enjoy to watch the game ! What a lovely rustic look - love the simplicity of the fire surround and must be extremely cosy when the wood burner is lit . Love your candle glass holder - it has given me an idea as I have a wonderful old but similar shaped goblet come down in the family which I may put to good use , seeing this and with the nights drawing in - it will be ideal !
@beryl Yes get it out Beryl! Look lovely with a candle lit at night & yours is sentimental too...nothing nicer! Let's have a look when you get organised! X
Don't follow golf.. just hear who's won at the end of it all.. we are at the other end with deciding if we need to light the fire or not.. each day... missed a few now..
Harry the fox hunter... it wouldn't dare come back..
@julzmaioro I have never played golf but really enjoy watching these big tournaments, We are in a good position tonight so fingers crossed we continue tomorrow. Yes Harry the fox frightened! I think he got as big a shock as the fox 🦊 possible they have lost their cover now the maize has gone.
It looks so cosy. We have only just stopped lighting our woodburner a couple of nights ago. We only need to light it in the evening during winter though and let it go out during the day. There are only a handful of times in winter where we need it lit all day. It is very cosy in the evenings though.and I prefer the wood fire to the air con.
