On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me....
Four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves & a partridge in a pear tree.
No birds to see here but you could hear them calling!
Three good things:
1. A miserable wet dark day, thank goodness I only had to go out first thing for my flu jab then back home again!
2. The timer on the tree lights outside worked perfectly so we didn’t have to go out in our slippers before bed to switch off.
3. Stamps purchased for the Christmas cards...a very expensive item these days...shall I give up sending them....no not yet!
Gorgeous display.
I still think stamps are worth it. You are, after all, paying someone a very low price to carry your message to another part of the country or even the other side of the world. No courier could get it there for that price. And it is worth it for someone you care about to hold your handwritten greetings in their hand and know they were thought of. Keep going, I say!
A beautiful luxurious display for Christmas .
A horrible wet and miserable day here too , such a dark and dismal day .
Postage is such an item in itself these day but I do love to send and receive Christmas greeting and there is so much truth in what @casablanca says !
@beryl I agree too Beryl, it puts a new perspective on it when it’s pointed out to you as @casablanca did. When it’s my birthday I’m never bothered too much about presents but I love cards! @gijsje Bep too, so we are all in agreement! Lots of cards in our houses!
Lovely Christmassy scene.. The poor mailman earn there keep this time of the year.. FG talking to our Mailman the other day and he's over it all ready..
@julzmaioro He he he’s not going to,las5 the course! Our mailman Tony is a unmarried, loves his job, talks to everyone, knows everything going on, gets cakes etc but doesn’t come with our mail till late afternoon in fact he hasn’t been yet & its 5.35 pm! Our lane is last on his rounds!
@happypat think I may have to get Brendon a bar of chocolate this year with all the online shopping I have done.. as he has to come up the drive to get signatures on the parcels. Hes running about am hour late at the moment..
Loving your 'days of Christmas' pictures.....do you have a whole set I wonder? And I like the thoughts on cards! It's so nice to get them, though a lot of my friends and family have dropped this over recent years!
Some of my friends probably think I have too as the last few years I have had horrid virus things, feeling rather poorly and didn't get many written. But this year I think I might manage a bit of a catch up!! Still have cards and stamps from last year!!!!
@sarah19 No unfortunately not Sallie, I wished I’d thought of getting a picture for each day but started off well but the things became a bit muddled as we went round, not so clear & the rooms didn’t seem to follow on too well. This is the last clear one I have although migh5 ask Cathy if she has any others!
Obviously this is the right time to visit this place! So well done and very Christmassy! Now I shall go out and try to find some turtle doves, french hens, got a golden ring, but no swans or geese!
Is each room decorated with a different day of Christmas theme?
I will still send cards and usually a Christmas letter to go along with it for overseas friends and family. e cards just aren't the same. I am not a fan of those, they make me cringe.
@louannwarren Yes I’ve never really questioned sending* them but when you hav3 to pay around £30 for stamps & that’s only the posting ones for the UK you think my word!
Loving your 12 days series. Keep sending the cards, I know it gets more expensive each year but receiving a card from someone gives such pleasure and sometimes it is the only time friends around the world retain contact.
@happypat we pay $ .50 for a stamp now and I like to send photo cards so it just all adds up. My mother mailed Christmas cards and delighted in ones received, just as I do, so it’s a sentimental time for me really.
Lovely image. I'm not giving up on the cards yet either, and I MUST start writing them very soon or it will be too late. I love receiving them, so reckon it's worth sending them.
@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil, it’s been nice to have a sort of series to do!
@joansmor thank you Joan. @judithdeacon I think everyone feels pretty much as we do re cards...it’s reassuring I’m not the only one laying out a good bit of cash for stamps! @louannwarren It’s a great thing to continue what mum did! @kwind@Dawn@digitalrn Thank you Rick, Dawn & Kim.

I love to send and receive Christmas cards; I keep them in boxes and my granddaughters love to play with them.
