Looking through...

We knocked through the blocked up door on Tuesday. We are now one house!
Originally when we came to live here 20 years ago we couldn't get a house passed for our son & his family. It’s a conservation area so the only way we could get round it was by building on the end of ours & taking off four rooms off ours to make two houses.
It worked really well giving us both the same size accommodation but separate.
When our son & family moved to NZ we rented it out.
Now we are selling we are one house again! It feels weird walking through this door into the empty side!

Three good things:
1. Our DIL’s dad who I am taking to the surgery for leg dressing twice a week is much improved today! The nurse is pleased with progress!
2. I met up with our second sons wife’s mum today at Barton Grange, lots to talk about!
3. While the patient was at the doctors I bought a pair of wedge sandals to wear at a NZ wedding next year. Had to buy them now as in February next year it will be all boots. I had seen them on line & our local shop had them in so I made a quick decision & bought them!
4. EPC tests today.
Amazing what we have to do to meet code! I have to say that I will miss seeing your Christmas cards on your ceiling beams when you move. I just loved how they looked last December. 😊

You have a very large house now Pat ! I hope neither you or Harry sleep walk or you may get lost !! ha ha ! A very stressful time between everything ,Pat . How is your back - I hope it is not so painful and you will try to take things easy now ! Nice to be able to find and buy new sandals for next year's wedding - something to cheer you up - make sure you take them with you when you move !

Interesting to hear about your house(s) become united again. It must be a huge property. No wonder you need the drone pics!

@julzmaioro Energy Performance Certificate Julz. All houses have to have a score when they are for sale. Depends on how much double glazing, insulation etc. I have no idea what ours will be or indeed if anyone takes any notice! If course we will meet up, couldn’t not come to NZ & not meet up with you & @dide

@beryl Ha ha Beryl, we have doors shut between as it’s cold in the other half! Far too big for us now but I I’m still a bit stiff but recovering thank you.must admit it’s lovely to spread out! We have a bit of a lull now until it actually goes up for sale which I think will be next week. Pleased with my sandals, will show you a photo perhaps tomorrow!

Every changing for you Pat, its a hard time to leaving your home , we had left our last home after 25 years

@snowy Yes very hard Diana but our daughter says, better to go when you chose rather than when you have to!

@brennieb I think it’s just in time to move Brenda...it’s rather daunting how much stuff we accumulate! Feel better now I’ve taken quite a bit to the charity shops this week.

@maggiemae Would be good Maggie but it would best suit a two generation family....very popular here according to Escape to the country.....parents in one side kids in second...handy for baby sitting etc!

@busylady @helly31 Yes I quite like the space I must say but lots to keep clean if we were living in it!

Interesting story about navigating building codes. Bureaucrats will sure lead you a merry chase!

Wonderful long view. We had a similar building code solution but then we rented to a borderline personality law student who turned us in to the county for a glitch and had to move my therapy practice in a day and then renovate once aga8n.

Wow... I bet it does feel weird! So kind of you to do what you did for your son!
April 27th, 2019
It's a lot of work to navigate sales and a move. Looks like a beautiful property, though with good lighting.

It must feel strange to be back in one house again.
April 27th, 2019
@jgpittenger No....that was bad luck Jane, that would cause you some hassle! We have planning permission for all ours just needed to make a proper way through. It’s council taxed as one house.
April 27th, 2019
You are a very busy lady!
