Shiny, sharp, sour, smooth lots of words come to mind when I saw these green apples in The Little Veg Shop today.
I’m not sure whether I fancy these apples, they look very crisp & hard... my mouth waters at the thought of the possible sourness as you bite into one.
Three good things:
1. I took our spare NZ postbox to our daughters house today. They are without one in their fancy new front door.
2. A vase of stocks!
3. A chair out of the wind.
Are they Granny Smiths.. they can be a bit sharp but the best for stewing and pies. Hope you can take your kiwi mailbox to your new place.. stocks have the best perfume..
.
Oh, nice full frame of Granny Smiths! I used to love these, but I can no longer eat raw apples however as I became allergic to them a few years back. I can eat them cooked however. Lovely image.
@julzmaioro Yes Granny Smiths Julz, I have eaten them on an odd occasion years ago but I think there are far nicer sweeter apples around, I have be er cooked them as I always use Bramleys for cooking. Yes we will definitely take our other post box with us although Cathy reckons she going to bring a grey one back from NZ next year...she wants it to match windows etc.
@jamibann Well I have never heard of anyone being allergic to raw apples before....I’m not a big apple eater myself, l quite like a golden delicious occasionally but I would rather eat something like raspberries & blueberries.....we seem to buy loads of those,
Nice shot. I like to mix the tart apples with a sweeter apple for apple pies or apple turnovers. The sweet apple takes away a bit of the sour bite of the tart apple.
I seem to remember that green apples in the UK were very tart. Not so much here though, our green apples are delicious and don't put your teeth on edge when you bite into them. I imagine they would make a lovely apple pie though
.
I’m the same, couldn’t think of eating them, far too tart & hard for me but they did catch the eye!
@brennieb Ha ha Brenda you & me & @beryl too!
