A good day today sorting out our attic space.
These places start off tidy but over twenty years stuff accumulates until you can hardly get in the door & this is only half the space!
I’ve sorted what belongs to family, taken photos to send to NZ so they can decide if it’s stuff they want to keep. Each of these piles is waiting to be taken either to the charity shops or sold.
Those blue books you can see are all the account books from when we were farming....so glad I’m not filling those in any more!
A good feeling to get it more organised.
Three good things:
1. I was number 52 at the voting station at 4pm so not a great turn out. Who can blame anyone for not voting on these European elections when no one knows what’s happening! I was not going to waste my hard earned vote though!
2. I tried a few clothes on that were in the attic wardrobes....quite pleased as most still fit me!
3. I parked up at our new place & walked along the lane to the voting station....met a new neighbour so it’s getting more familiar.
every now and then I have a good old sort out. I really don't want my children to have to do it when we are no longer here. Always feels good to get rid of stuff...we all have far too much really. Mmmm, I can feel a sort out coming on soon!
You are lucky to have this attic storage.. but its going to be quite a job to down size..
Nice that you have met a new neighbor.. wont take you long to fit into the new community..
Luckily we have always had good attic space. In our other farm they made the attic space into two bedrooms so it was that big. This is big enough fir another bedroom & indeed the other side of the landing is attic space made into a bedroom already. Our youngest son converted it into a bedroom & then another bit into a bathroom so this floor used to be all attic! Thank goodness it isn’t as if it’s attic it attracts stuff!
I hope the access is not too bad to the attic! Getting all the stuff sorted and down is a big effort! WE had to build another room in the garage to keep our kid's belongings as well as our parents!
@maggiemae the attic is accessed by proper stairs maggie, it’s just another floor in the house really so very easy just a long way up & down the stairs! I can believe about it being the kids stuff!
Thank you all....hopefully will be even better when I’ve been to the charity shop a few times! I will have to keep the suitcases in the far corner as there was a leak in the roof there a good few years ago & the floor is not it’s best!
