Our son Brian will be interested to see this photo.
When he was still living in the UK he occasionally helped in this tent.
After the judging of all the beautiful things people had entered the stewards had to erect a sort of wire cage round the exhibits. It was hard work lifting the the frames up but this year they have improved the system no end. Using sort of nylon chicken type netting it’s a big improvement.
Three good things:
1. A big tidy up again & some pictures back on the walls making the place look lived in.
2. Time to start a good book this afternoon.
3. Intuition. I had a friend request from someone I knew but not that well. I said yes but wondering if she been hacked as she has sent me a message that does not sound like her at all. She asked me how I was & I asked her the same...her reply didn’t match her at all. She said well & extremely happy when I know she’s not! I have not replied any more & see what pops up.
Scammers!
That sounds like a vast improvement with the lighter netting.. looks like some lovely work on display.. have to have your wits about you all the time with these scammers lurking all the time..
I take those friend requests further, I block the person. So the chicken “wire” keeps everyone at bay. That’s a very good idea. Juried shows here are indoors normally, and just a ribbon barrier is strung - your method is perfect. It’s usually children that just can’t resist touching everything.
@julzmaioro@louannwarren I’ve deleted them. When I didn’t pursue the question they sent three question marks! Thanks for the comments....they only have this wire on the handicrafts, lots of toys & stuff that could easily be pinched so a great new method.
What a lovely display of beautiful craftwork . For years I judged the craft section on a local show , and I used to love it , seeing all the effort and dedication by the local people to compete and display their work to help make the show a success ! What a good idea to protect the beautiful and time consuming work .with a net .,not only from little fingers but also from over zealous competitors who try to change the 1st place ticket to their own item ( this happened to me once , thank goodness I was 100% clear of the winner )
Glad you have had time to relax and read your book today .
That fb message sounds a scam - I should block this person for safety - I have had more than one "stranger " trying to befriend me !! and I always block them ! better to be safe than sorry !
@beryl Never thought if that reason to use a net for protection but I suppose some unscrupulous person would stoop to do that. You would be a great judge fir this tent then Beryl, pity you aren’t a bit more local, always looking fir judges! There was so much variety here, goes all the way to other end if tent & the other side too. You have to have your Whitt’s about you sometimes re FB, my fault accepting a friend request from someone I’m already friends with!
Interesting what @beryl says about changing place cards! How much more cheating can you be! There looks to be some great artwork there - much to admire - skill and excellence!
That FB one surely means your friend has been violated and needs to change her password.
Interesting idea of the net to protect the handiwork. Good idea, really. I had a FB message from someone I have never heard of, so I did not reply. It asked "How are you doing?" , which is weird coming from a stranger. I am going to check out her FB page then block her.
