I had to laugh when I saw this couple watching the parade of forties vehicles drive by....I think the lady looks rather envious!
They are driving past the fairly new Seasalt shop which is the very reason Harry & I went into Lytham & luckily came upon this forties event!
Sorry for the rather repetitive theme in the last few days but I haven’t taken any other photos.
Three good things:
1. A very bad thing happened to our lovely granddaughters & her fiancés house, it burnt down yesterday afternoon. The only good thing was that they were out at work when it caught fire. Simon is a volunteer fireman & it came up on his pager, was a shock when he realised it was their house!! All safe including their dog.
2. The wedding dress escaped damage!
3. Litter picking!
Oh my gosh! I am so very sorry to read the news of the fire. Was this your granddaughter Alex? Thank goodness people and pup are safe...and the wedding dress. All else can be replaced. But such a lot to deal with in the aftermath of a disaster. Good thoughts to the young couple as they pull things together while in the middle of wedding plans. Bless them.
That is terrible, such a horrible thing to go through, but pleased that all are safe.. Shock for Simon to see their address come up on his pager.. Things can be replaced but they will carry their memories with them ..
I am enjoying your 40's parade shots ..
Ooh Pat - what a shock but glad they were out , the dog safe and also the wedding dress !
Great shot of the 40's perhaps the old lady was remembering her teenage years in the 40's ! ha !!
Just been messaging Alex, she says they will know more after investigation but she seems quite calm. Lots of clearing up I imagine & packing up what they can salvage. Thank you all.
I see this is left hand drive - left over from the American forces! That lady watching sure does have a funny stance!
That fire must have been at Dunsandel? How awful for them!
What a disaster for your granddaughter and her husband. Even though they haven't been married long they would have all sorts of memories in that house. However, as you say, everyone is well including the dog, the house is just bricks and mortar. Hope they manage to sort things out fairly speedily so they can get on with life.
Thank you both, yes a shock...I think it must be one of the worse things to happen to you, frightening to see your home go up in flames!

Lovely photo. The lady watching the parade looks rather rugged up doesn't she. Others seem to be wearing tee shirts etc, but she looks set for winter.
