A closer look at a mole hill.
They will be very familiar to some of you but I could tell by the comments yesterday that the mole is not such a well known animal in other countries as it is in the UK.
I have just read that it’s a protected species in Germany which is astounding!
You can see the trap Janet has put in the tunnel....I don’t like to think about that bit but they do make a mess when burrowing.
They live on earthworms & other insects. Their saliva can paralyse an earthworm & they store them in special larders to eat later.
Three good things:
1. I have walked 13.000 steps this afternoon. Too far, I didn’t enjoy the last mile! No walk tomorrow for me!
2. Wearing my very well used Allbirds made from NZ Merino wool...just like wearing slippers but lethal for slipping now as the soles are very smooth.
3. My sister in law who was taken into hospital with a very high temperature yesterday has had the Coronovirus test and they have done an MSR scan. Fingers crossed she will be OK.
Update: She has tested negative for Coronavirus. So relieved!
Wow they must make a real mess of the pasture and I guess a danger hor stock to get injured in the holes..
I hope your SIL is ok scary times for you all waiting..
Moles, naughty moles we used to have a chap in the village that would come out on his bike and trap them - his charge?... one bottle of red wine for each one he caught!! 😊
Don't the little blighters make a mess of the land - if they only got rid of the slugs , snails and insects without tunnelling and making mole-hills ! Such prehistoric and blind little creatures with an amazing coat ! Sorry to hear of your sil - I hope she will be OK !
We had moles on our allotment, and tried an ultrasound mole deterrent. I'm not sure it worked! Hope you manage to sort the problem. Glad to hear your sister in law doesn't have the virus.
I hope your SIL is ok scary times for you all waiting..
Update on my sister in law she tested negative for Corinavirus...so relieved!
Hope your sister in law is okay.
