Hello by happypat

Hello

One of the fields we walked through on Saturday had heifers grazing.....they are quite a curious animal & they all came across to say hello. Could be a bit daunting if you weren’t used to cows! A mixture of some beef cows & replacement dairy heifers we thought.

I haven’t been out for two days so using my spare photos.

Three good things:
1. The first rain for eight weeks...so welcome!
2. Lovely red rhubarb stewed for pudding.
3. Harry took his Landrover for its service to our local garage instead of the dealership...such a thorough job & loads cheaper!
Cattle are so nosy - a lovely image. Send us some rain please.

Lovely photo and with your family history of dairy farming you know what's what!
It's so good to have rain after the weeks of dry days, and the gardens respond!

Looks like a nice cow! How good to find a good car mechanic and not have to use the dealer.

They are indeed curious animals, and when they get close enough they do love to have their head scratched

I'm always a bit nervous about cows - some can get nasty if they have a calf and some will actually charge but they tend to be bulls! Not climbing over the fence!

I will never, ever walk through a field with cows in. I will climb fences, cross streams, walk an extra 5 miles, anything to avoid the cows. Martha thought I was bonkers until last weekend when she was out walking and got head buttered by one. She said she's never been so scared in her life. Cows kill several people a year.

Having said all that, I do like to see cows when there's a solid fence between me and them :)

@susiemc I would never ever walk through a field of cows with a dog or if there are mums & young ones, a bull in there with them but otherwise I am happy to walk through. Lots of the footpaths here have cattle in them & they get used to walkers but I can completely understand why you would be nervous. The young ones are very curious & do come up behind you sometimes...I always watch carefully & I am very used to cows.

I’m hugely respectful of cows. Sweet shot. I love their big brown eyes
