Ice cream man by happypat

Ice cream man

I chose this photo today because it was taken on Blackpool promenade a few weeks ago.
Tonight the Blackpool Illuminations will be switched on.
Usually a massive event with thousands on the sea front & some famous person doing the honours, this year it’s all by virtual whatever you call it....a live event inside the Winter Gardens with no audience. Not quite the same!
This year instead of ending at the beginning of November they will carry on until just after New Year.

Three good things:
1. Our buyers have been & they are happy for us to leave every bit of furniture we don’t want....all that time & energy moving it will be saved!
2. We have somewhere to rent after Christmas when have to move out for the builders.
3. A homemade muffin!
You do not often see an ice cream man without van these days Pat ! So Blackpool will continue the illuminations over Christmas ! Some thing to cheer up the town !
Things are moving fast re the house move and good that you have found a temporary home till you are in yours !
One or two suggested I went automatic Pat , but it would be another thing to get used to and as old habits a re hard to break - I think I am safer with the manual !

It's years since I saw Blackpool illuminations. They were great. I would love to go back.

@beryl I think exactly as you do... it would be so handy if I could drive an automatic because it’s quite hard to hire an automatic in NZ when we go there but I’m worried I might put my foot on the wrong pedal & even go over the parapet on a multi storey car park...you do hear of it! 😳😨. Our son made me drive his auto truck for about ten miles last time I was there & it was easy once you got used to the fact that as soon as you take your foot off the brake you’re off! Of course there is no comparison driving in NZ to our heavily congested roads.

@mave The switching on is very popular Mave especially if it’s someone the kids like!
It was saying on the news at lunchtime that Blackpool has had a great August...lots of visitors.

I like your photo. I'm thinking of all those cold people eating cold ice-cream on the prom in the winter!

Yes, I'll be posting an old photo tomorrow in honour of a big local event not taking place! This is a nice capture.

Everything is coming together on your sale. I’m so happy for you. I love muffins, I need to make some!

Am delighted for you that after so much angst...the show is on! Congratulations for your patience, particularly towards the gazers, the curious and those who just want to 'skeet'.

@s4sayer Yes we e had a few of those Margo....they only just put Under Offer on the sign at the end if the Lane yesterday so we’ve had people driving past slowly, having to turn round as it’s a cul de sac & driving off. We didn’t see them much as we are set back off the road but the neighbours did.

lovely storytelling pat, don't be afraid of doing a front shot, i am sure the vendor would love it if you did

The ice cream man's bike is pretty loaded up isn't it.

I remember going to the illuminations and every time we went it was bitterly cold.

Having the illuminations on till the new year will make for some interesting photo opportunities, especially if it snows. I'd photograph illuminations in the snow if I lived there ha ha.

But I thought the sale was signed and sealed, Pat! Not just 'under offer". Great to see part of Blackpool that probably once was very vibrant!

Nice candid and very pleased to read your good news 👍

@maggiemae Oh no Maggie, it takes at least two months in the UK for a sale to go through that’s why it’s such an unsettled time! Searches, surveys etc all take time & it’s not until you sign the agreement that the sale is safe. Two weeks later you ‘complete’ & it’s moving day. Such a long job & anyone can back out anytime! If you’re in a chain meaning your buyer has their own buyer the chain can collapse anytime which is what happened to us last year.

@happypat Oh dear, that sounds difficult! Cross fingers!

A gorgeous capture. Many events have had to be cancelled all over the world because of this killer virus. Fingers cross we will celebrate in a year's time, hopefully even before.
