Stuck for a photo tonight so I’ve just been out & taken this from the back of our house.
It won’t look like this for long as all these maize fields are hopefully about to be cropped.
We wish they would hurry up & get cracking while the weather is dry & fine but it’s just that little bit too early although it looks ready to us.
The difference if it’s cut in the dry makes a real difference to our lane...it can get very muddy if the ground us wet.
Three good things:
1. A visit to the library to get stocked up
2. Harry picked two massive bags of Bramley Cooking apples.
3. A couple of visits to elderly ladies before we aren’t allowed to visit anyone for a while.
Beautiful view for miles! My daughter lives in Lancs but her view is very hilly. It’s a beautiful county that I hadn’t explored much before she moved there. You’re very lucky.
@tinley23 Thank you Lesley. We live in the flatter side of Lancashire on the Fylde. We are on just about the highest bit but we used to live back inland a bit in the prettier fells & troughs. Took me a while to get used to the flatter side but it’s much easier when you get older!! Lots if very different countryside, we are very lucky & the people are very friendly....hope your daughter has settled in well.
@loweygrace Well I got a book from the library today called The Perfect Couple. It’s by an author called Elin Hilderbrand. She an American author & writes books based in Nantucket. They are very easy to read books but I love the sound of the life there. You might have come across her already.
My relaxing time. She has written quite a few & I have enjoyed them all.
I actually borrowed five books altogether & they don’t need to be back until 1st December, all new rules at the moment, normally it’s three weeks.
Thanks Lois.
The light is dimming here at this time in the evening but you can still see the fields. When does a field become a meadow? Perhaps the guys on the mowing machines might not be allowed to work after the coming lockdown! If so they had better start and not stop!
@maggiemae The length of the grass I presume maggie but it’s still a field whatever is growing in it....you think of meadows being long grass full of wild flowers...sounds so much nicer than just field.
No we still have to go about our work....farmers & such like have just to be careful...they are outside mostly so the risk is far less than office staff. The government is wanting everyone to keep working anyway. They have to...
@happypat Yes, I remember during the wars, the gardeners were allowed to keep going.... I think. Then I just remember a book I've just read about Land Girls - WLA. Women's land Army - the farmers must have been away fighting!
Lovely evening scene. Hope they get the maize in soon the weather is supposed to change this week! Your books sound interesting. I would enjoy some fairly easy reads at the moment.
