I did hesitate to take this photo & also use it for today’s post.
The best shot I missed as I didn’t feel it was right to take a picture but the scene of Bill’s coffin being carried & the line of mourners among the trees was a lovely scene yesterday.
I couldn’t bring myself to raise the phone so stood at the back until no one could see me to take this sneaky shot.
Not as nice visually but it was taken with respect.
Three good things:
1. A hair cut.
2. Septic tank emptied.
3. A video Cathy sent me of Connie on a little walk...her third one & she is so excited to be out & about. Can’t meet any other dogs yet as she hasn’t had her final Injection.
Goodbye and a joyous scene Pat , to think that so many wanted to pay their last respects ! And a lovely country cemetery , all the gravestones in rows like soldiers among the Autumn trees Full of melancoly !
Very respectful shot.. most of the mourners are in black.. we seem to be getting alot of colour at funerals and some family's even request colourful clothing..
I didn’t get how lovely this grave yard is in this quick snatched shot but there were so many flowers out on the graves. As you see the backs of the graves when you enter it many of the grave stones have the surname of the family written on the back so you’re not hunting along the rows for the one you’re looking for.
I will go back in a day or two & take a proper photo.
VML this shot, enhanced by those present and those who have been resting here for some time. Whilst funerals are hardly anyone's preferred activity, l appreciate what they signify and the collective presence of those who mourn. We celebrate births and accompany our loved ones, be they family, friends, colleagues and/or neighbours. If such accompaniment did not exist, we would never value enough those we have lost. May they rest in peace.
Very respectful. That is a lot of people at a funeral. During the restrictions we were only allowed 10 people at a funeral and it has only recently been increased to 20.
@jgpittenger Sorry Jane there was a brief explanation of the funeral on yesterday’s shot....he was the owner of a large veggie & nursery shop....very well known in Garstang & surrounds. @onewing Only allowed 30 at our funerals too Babs but as it was all outside we were allowed to tag on the back.
Lovely thoughtful shot Pat. I'm sure there would have been many more there if things were normal. We were restricted to twenty for my husband's funeral so it was just family and a few very close friends.
@thistle01 That’s a sad thing Joyce...everyone wants to support & show their love & appreciation for the life gone but sadly it’s one of the terrible results of this awful virus. I’m sure friends & family had you in their hearts that day.
Always sad to see an occasion like this. At least he has mourners there to give him a send off. During lockdown not even this was allowed and the dead were laid to rest in strict solitude.
