Our grandson William in New Zealand is a volunteer fireman with seven years experience. He recently passed the course to drive the fire engine so here he is driving it down the Main Street of Morrinsville for the Christmas Parade.
He’s wearing his Christmas hat!
We are very proud of him as you can imagine...it’s a very varied variety of emergencies they cover.... far more than in the UK.
Three good things:
1. Harry is helping his sister with her hens & ducks after her operation...he’s brought some eggs back.
2. A quick walk round the block on the footpaths today...no mud this time!
3. Videos of our new great granddaughter Nina.
How lovely to see your grandson in his volunteer role. I bet you can't wait to see your new great granddaughter.
Sadly there was a tragedy in the next village yesterday, with 40 fire engines called to help. Two young children died in the fire, I can't bear to think of the horror of it. Praying for the family.
@busylady Oh dear Judith, that was near you...bad enough to see it on the TV but to be so near & part of your community...doesn't bear thinking if it. So sorry.
The Vollies do a great job.. certainly alot more that put out scrub fires .. and more so in rural areas when other emergency services are otherwise busy..
Nice to get a video of little Nina.
He has done so well and we all appreciate the time and effort the volunteers put into our community. Videos of little Nina will be so lovely for you to watch and rewatch.
Good to get out for a bit, whatever the weather!

I love the shopping bag on the pavement in the foreground.
Nice to get a video of little Nina.
