Old Lancaster...Dalton Square. by happypat

Old Lancaster...Dalton Square.

Dalton Square is rather a beautiful Square in the centre of Lancaster.
Cobble streets & gracious houses, to the south side is the town hall, in the centre are the gardens. A rather amazing statue to Queen Victoria stands in the centre...photo another day.
Not many people about in this part of Lancaster last Friday.
The main building on the corner is The Borough Hotel & is the place Cathy & I met Lydia for lunch day she heard her GSE exam results....a bit of a celebration. Seems a long time ago now!

Three good things:
1. Battered onion rings! 😋
2. Another good book. Very lighthearted but I’m enjoying it. A Wedding at the Beach Hut by Veronica Henry. An easy read but just what you need at this time.
3. Deep Heat. I have a bit of a sore shoulder & it has eased it a bit.
Lots of bricks

It looks so stark..despite the blue sky..I hope they put pots of geraniums out in the warm weather!

@bkp I’m not sure they do Barbara, I shall have to check in the summer but if course all hospitality places such as this have been closed for months so no flowers. If you look closely thought there are baubles on the tree!

Can imagine it would normally be buzzing with people but a great opportunity to get a shot of the architecture..
Wonder if the onions came from the paddocks I took a shot of last week..

The stone architecture looks a bit bleak but it is winter, after all!

I love the cobbled street! So much charm in this lovely scene. And I'm with you on the onion rings! I could eat my weight in battered onion rings.

What a lovely scene. I can picture people strolling around in Victorian costumes and horses and carriages clip clopping on the cobblestones.

We used to take our guinea pigs to Lancaster for competitions (you read that right!) and I always admired the city - very elegant and unspoilt. Lydia must be working now?

@judithg your guinea pigs? Wow that’s a memory Judith! It hasn’t changed much over the years, still a very nice small county city.
