We have a little courtyard outside the back door where we are living at the moment. It’s a little sun trap but a walk through for dog walkers etc. Quite sociable really but I try not to look up each time people walk past.
I was given a Country Living Magazine so was interested to read the pink is the ‘In’ colour! I have been ahead of my time for years as I’ve always painted my kitchen walls with the colour FB Setting Plaster which is the colour of dry unpainted new plaster, I find it’s a warm welcoming shade that looks good with all styles.
Not on my own it seems, the interior design people have come to the same conclusion!
Three good things:
1. Amazingly all the shops have no chocolate Easter eggs left! We managed to track one down at the Cartford...it’s coming up with our fish & chip supper tonight!
2. No side effects to worry too much about this time after my Covid jab yesterday, I have a slight headache but nothing that’s too uncomfortable!
3. A new toothbrush!
My parents bought a house in which all the oak trim was painted a horrible Pepto-Bismol pink. My mom spent weeks stripping it. And all the bedrooms were various shades of pink. Not pretty pinks. So she repainted them all. We lived there for many years, the subsequent owners lived there for over 20 years, the house went on the market, and to my horror, the pictures on the web showed they had painted all the rooms pink again!
Such a nice spot to sit in the sun brows through your magazines and people watch ! So pink is the in colour is it - so much more cheerful after the spate od dull and morbid grey period in home decor ! Decor depends a lot on the style of home and furniture you have .
Good to be up to this stage in proceedings. Funny, but when I had the living room painted last summer, 3 walls are a pale pinkish shade and one wall a terracotta.
I love this magazine - try to get old copies from the library! Too expensive to buy. I like the idea of your little sun patio - I'd love to be able to smile at people going by!
Love your photo. Nice way to spend time. My second vaccine hurt going in terribly and I had a rough few days after it. Was more mild first time around bug similar. Glad yours went ok.
@maggiemae It’s very entertaining Maggie......just a little bit chilly yet & the sun doesn't come found until mid afternoon but I’m sure in the next couple of months I will really make use of it & of course anyone stops fir a chat I’m delighted!
Country Living mag is lovely, it’s an average price for a magazine here but I know the price escalates in NZ. I used to have a subscription many years ago.
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy....yes a relief to be fully jabbed up.....we are feeling much more confident in this country now.... hope when the country unlocks more on the 12th April people behave! Haven’t been in a clothes shop for a year! Mind you I’m into house stuff instead now! 🤣
@quietpurplehaze Yes a pink house looks sweet, strangely our bungalow is pink now....pink & brick....it won’t be that when it’s finished...the brick will be gone & a different colour!
@judithg Ha ha I am just that Judith....it happens quite often actually, I like stuff ages before & then I see in a magazine that what I’ve. Been wearing/doing is high fashion! Coincidence I know but it makes me laugh!
Bet you've got to know all your neighbours now then Pat! And interesting to know about pink- after all jobs done on our house we'll be starting decorating. Every room needs it as 12 years since last done!
@beryl yes I think I’m over the grey thing a bit now. I do like grey in clothes & walls etc but all grey, floors, units, paintwork etc gets a bit drab.....I watch these house doing up programmes & the finished look is so dreary sometimes!
@fueast Yes we are chatty aren’t we .....there was a section on the news the other day saying that they were encouraging folk to say hello as they pass on their walks...we always do that. Lots of new houses round here & you can tell the incomers as they just look at the ground when they walk past you! 😨
@casablanca Pink...it would only be a token pink...thinking of painting the peninsular a nice rose pink but the rest a sort of off white..,shaded white...the walls too.
@happypat And why not, eh? We currently have a pink bedroom! Normally go for yellows and blues but I suddenly had a fancy for pink. It's a warm cosy colour.
Colour trends are hard to fathom at times - I look at new subdivisions with all the same tones of bland grey exteriors and wonder at their inside choices. Your sunny area sounds a great place to relax.

Reading in the sunshine? Cold and windy here.
