I thought on this wet windy day I would start the Christmas card writing.
Quite a few friends have given up writing cards & giving the money to a charity but I must say I love getting & hanging cards up plus it’s the only way people know whether you’re dead or alive at our time of life!
It was much more enjoyable this year I must say as I sat at the new kitchen counter on my very comfy bar stool. I can see out of the window at anyone walking or driving past & I’ve plenty of space to spread my stuff out.
Half done so I feel pleased with myself. No decorations up yet though…next weekend for that I think.
Three good things:
1. An extremely funny political video made us laugh!
2. I slept like a log last night, the first time for a good two weeks.
3. No need to go out again this Saturday night, the church is closed because of a covid celebrant. As it’s very windy & rainy I’m glad.
I just love the look of your kitchen and that great work space! I have bought the cards and the stamps but have to force myself to sit down and write them! Not my favourite job and my writing deteriorates as I go down the pile! Lol! I have hung some lovely new tiny white lights round the fireplace in the lounge and some in the garden.
Just exactly what I was doing today Pat! I can't see the road but I can see the garden from my newish kitchen island and I put on some Schubert classical music to add to thte atmosphere. Funny but I thought about posting a similar shot today. I enjoy sending and receiving cards too. Was your political funny video the one of Boris getting his jab?
@pamknowler My writing is not what it was, I write quite fast & the pen has started to divert all over ….I need to slow down. The stamp buying is the worst bit!!😨
@busylady Ha ha yes it was Judith…it must be going all over the place! I thought it inspired! I had football on …..not my choice, if it had been a nice day Harry would have been outside but it’s not fit today. Would love to see your Christmas card writing Judith!!
I haven't started mine yet. Keep meaning to get a shift on but something else comes up. Out this afternoon so I guess I will have to get cracking on Monday.
I might take Judith's @busylady idea and put on some music to get into gear for card writing. Nice to see around your kitchen and exactly where you are sitting.
Like you I also like the giving and receiving Christmas Cards - S0 good of you to get started - I am afraid I wrote around 10 cards the other day and gave up - must have another go SOON !! Bought some postage stamps today - what a shock ,nearly had to mortgage them !!
@beryl Yes the cost of the stamps is extortionate….we used to send about 80 cards at one point but hopefully might get away with 60 this year. I try to deliver the local ones on a walk.
I agree with your reasons for mailing Christmas cards. Every year I say I’m going to stop but I just can’t bring myself to do that. For the last several years the postage has cost more than the cards. I know you are loving your new home!
A lovely place to work on your Christmas cards. We send out 125 every year along with a letter and photo. It takes a lot of time but we have had this tradition since the 1980's so we keep it up. I have not started yet!
Just about to start mine! I agree too - nothing more lovely, especially after all this isolation and distancing, than to receive a handwritten note carrying someone's love and thoughts to you.
Beautiful shot. You have a lovely kitchen with lots of natural lighting. We don't send or receive cards any more. Everything we do on the computer. It was more fun and personal then.
