The faulty bit of our wood burner was dropped off early this morning but we didn’t light it until around 3pm this afternoon.
For a new cold stove it lit very well with plenty of good kindling & a fire lighter.
It looks cosy & it’s lovely & warm so I’ve turned the heating right down.
Three good things:
1. Unfortunately the stove must have given of new fumes & set off the alarms….what a terrible noise it was to but we couldn’t reach the top one as the roof is so high. I rang the electrician who put the alarms in & he has come & taken it down temporarily until there are no more fumes.
2. I’ve had Connie today while Cathy has been working….enjoyed our walk & she was good.
3. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do the kitchen in Sarah Beenys renovation programme. Last one of the series.
Ooh ! it does look such a cosy corner . Any new heat appliance smell and give off fumes at first , get the fire alarm set at a little lower on a wall - no good if you can not reach it !!
@julzmaioro@beryl It’s at the top of the vaulted ceilings so no chance or reaching it…even the electrician had to bring his very tall ladders in. So glad they came as the alarm went off twice…if it goes off again at least we can chuck it out into the garden!
Looks fabulous and I know you will be very warm and cosy with it. Shame about the teething problems! Thankfully you now have your smoke alarms at a lower level!
@maggiemae Our wood burners are a different shape to yours maggie….yours are low & oblongish whereas ours can be smaller but squarer, this one is tall & higher in proportion to the room. We were too hot last nigh5 so have turned the underfloor heating right down. Gas has got so expensive now that using the stove more will be a cheaper option just at the moment.
