Our poppy by happypat

Our poppy

Our poppy from the Tower of London arrived late this afternoon, it was quite exciting opening it. It came nicely boxed with an authenticity certificate and a booklet explains the whole idea.
I did think we would have to wait a lot longer for it to be delivered but so glad I bought one.
Now where to put it... I think I will keep it in its box for the winter perhaps.

A fourth good thing!
I have such admiration for this wonderful idea.

We got ours a couple of weeks back - been in the ground a while I think which I like. I put a photo on FB and then took it down because I though I'd spoil your surprise with the box! Ours indoors till spring (in the box) - Nigel says it'll get frosted!

@judithg I did actually think after I had posted this about the surprise element....you are a better woman than me Judith! Sorry anyone whose surprise I have now spoilt! Thank you for your thoughtfulness! I rather like mine in its box but will put it in a sheltered slot when it warms up I think.

Are these poppies artificial or real? Can't imagine they would survive being sent out to millions of people! I daresay you had to pay for this good presentation.

Have you been reading the comments online about them arriving broken? It's really worried me so I'm glad to hear a positive story. Still waiting for mine.

Lucky you, they were sold out when I tried.

@maggiemae they were £25 each maggiemae & are the same poppies that filled the moat at the Tower of London. Every one of the 888 odd thousand poppies have been sold.

Haven't got mine yet - I'm dreading it being broken by Yodel, who are just about the worse courier company in the world. We stopped using them at work because nearly half the deliveries got damaged by rough handling or got lost altogether. Their drivers don't give a stuff about anything and just throw the packages around. Fingers crossed...

@pistonbroke they probably chose them as the cheapest Pete, I must say my guy was fine when he delivered it , I had to sign for it so he just handed it to me. I do think the petals are quite fragile though & could soon break. Hope you get yours in one piece......a replacement is not the same at all. I have another one to come yet so fingers crossed.
