Went on a day tour of North Stradbroke Island yesterday & on the 2nd stop I looked up into the trees, as I always do, & spotted this koala way up high. With fully extended lens & not so good lighting for a clear shot, I managed to catch her. Was told she is old, but, the locals said they have seen a joey....she was sleeping, but, lifted her head ( for us.) Would so like @koalagardens to comment.
how lovely to find! I would imagine @skstein that if the locals say she is old it's because they know her. The only way to tell the age of a koala is by their teeth, and you need them under anaesthetic as they don't show them readily, though they use them readily!
Well done, capturing them from a big distance is really a challenge, as well as lighting. I'm so glad you got to see one 'in the wild', it is such a thrill to spot one - you have learned to use your koala eyes 🤗
I must say she does have a sleepy look to her. fav for me, well captured!
