This old gold mine is just on the outskirts of Victor, Colorado. This region of Colorado was a huge gold mining area. There are still some active mines. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I love how it has aged. We toured one of these gold mines in Ouray. It is interesting how Ft. Lewis in Durango is a mining university, as is NM Tech. Is your son still there? If he is, we must meet up when you come through to visit him. Are you coming for balloons soon? I used to teach movie appreciation, and the great classic "Citizen Kane" is about a man whose poor parents in Colorado were paid by a tenant with a stock in a gold mine, the mother lode it turned out.
@janeandcharlie. My son does still work at NM Tech. He will be leaving the end of Oct for 4 months in Antarctica to do research and experiments with the seismic group. We were going to come for the balloon fiesta this year but it is the same time as Annie's Homecoming (last one). Hopefully we will be down to visit (will let you know ) sometime when he gets back. :)
