We were hiking to the 14'er, Mount of the Holy Cross. It is named that because on one side there are 2 large crevices that cross and snow settles there making a large cross. It is a long hike ( 12 miles) with a large elevation gain as you approach the summit (5600 ft total, 3000 ft last 2 miles). We made it in almost 4 miles before we had to turn around due to approaching bad weather. There were 11 of us who are mostly neighbors. It was a beautiful hike. We'll have to try again next year. Thank you for viewing.
What a lovely place to be hiking. A pity you had to turn around, but sensible in the mountain terrain. By the looks of the packs, you were all well prepared for any situation.
