Worship with the Vikings

Finally getting back to some photos from our Norway trip. This is the Hopperstad stave church (Hopperstad Stavkyrkje) it is a stave church near Vikøyri in Vik on the Sognefjord, Norway.

The stave church is assumed to have been built around 1130 and still stands at its original location. This makes it one of the oldest stave churches in Norway. These were the early christian churches for the vikings, and they built them much like ships, with the dragon heads on the gables, making them extremely unique and I think very beautiful.

I had to lay down in the weeds to get this perspective, but I really like how there are some weeds peaking in the foreground, and the graves right by the church as well, it makes me feel like I am sneaking up on something secrect.
Love this! What an amazing piece of work! This building is amazing!
