Go Boating With the Vikings

We flew from the Fjord area of Norway to Oslo, where we spent a day in museums before taking an evening train to Sweden. This is the Oseberg viking ship in the Oslo Viking ship museum.

I absolutely love the huge bows on each end, and the nice ornamental piece on the tip of the bows as well. The ship was operated by 40 men with oars. It was used for the burial of some viking royalty in the year 834. They found the ship in 1904 in over 60,000 pieces.
Wow! It's amazing that they were able to reconstruct this from all those pieces. What a beautiful ship!
