I had to get up early this morning and beat the lines at the ausländeramt to get a new working VISA, as my other one was only good for two years. Luckily they have a special university branch so it didn't take too long. The office is in a great new building and it has a wonderful view over the Aachen skyline. That is our UNESCO cathedral in the center. I love the mistyness of the sky, as well as that orange hazy glow the sun is giving the sky through that mist as it comes up. I originally posted a regular version of this shot, but then I thought hey, I wonder if you can replicate those cartoony profile shots of Aachen you see on everything in town. So I played around with 'curves' in photoshop and this is what I ended up with, and I LOVE it. Hope you like it too.
Funny you ask because I was going to say in my commentary but I thought it might be boring! A polarising filter helps to saturate colours. A ND filter uniformly darkens your pic. The grad filter helps to darken the sky part (or the water if you use it the other way around). Hope that helps!
great silhouette shot mate! yep we're still going to the dolphins vs bills game. Betty even bought me a nice dolphins jersey and cap to wear... go dolphins!
very cool shot! the silhouette looks perfect here with the colorful sky and interesting buildings.
and that's so funny that you spent some time at TUD.. what a small world!
