I was in an odd part of the city yesterday morning for a doctors appointment (I only have to wear my giant boot one more week!) and I saw this cool old building being restored down the street when I came out of the doctors.
One of the workers apparently thought I was strange because he came to ask me what was so interesting I was taking a picture of, and I said the many different textures are really nice and he said: Well, if you think so. heh. We then talked about the sign in paint there: Decker Beir, apparently its really old because no-one had heard of it, and he even said he asks older people when they come to poke around (old German men love watching construction) and no-one had ever heard of Decker Beir. I have said this several times before but I love how confident and outgoing with the camera the project is making me. This is not something I would have done a few months ago.
I really upped the saturation of blue and yellow with photoshop RAW to bring out that cool half-ground off paint, and increased the contrast quite a bit too, but I am really happy with the final product.
Ah. it's this old hotel Building which used to be the "Maastrichter Hof", with the attached pub.pavillon in the front which used to be a greek restaurant called "Dinosaurus". I often went by this thing with the car and thought "when are they going to do something with this thing?". Seems they have started :)
I absolutely love this! The colors and textures are fantastic and you captured them so well! I just love how this project has given so many of us more confidence with certain situations in our photography!
Yeah, the boot! Totally forgot to comment about that :). So when you get of your boot, maybe it's time for a boot-celebration with the _real_ boot... ?
This is very cool. I did some google-ing too and I found a Decker and Sons brewery. Probably all wrong but it was fun translating all the entries I found into English and this was the translation I liked the best.
I bet you can't wait to get that giant boot off!
