Aachen is well known for a sort of gingerbread cookie, printen. I am unfortunately still home sick from work today so my wife came home with this little gift of a printen cookie made to look like a hedgehog to cheer me up, and it served as the photo of the day.
We are flying back to the states for the first time in over two years once week from today! There is a still a ton I have to do both at work and at home before we go, and being laid out of the couch with the flu has only added to that stress. In the end not all of it will get done but I have to come to terms that it is not the end of the world. It will be waiting for me when I get back. On the plus side I just finished Anathem by Neil Stephenson, and it was a really interesting read. I think I will be back on my feet again tomorrow as I already feel better than I did yesterday.
Sounds like the hedgehog did the trick! how exciting is that....going back to the States for a visit! They'll be getting the flags out! Hope you'll still be able to post up some pics.
Fun get well treat. Very creative gingerbread cookie. Hope it is as good as it looks. Have fun back in the states and yes, worry will not make the work go away. Just don't sweat the small stuff, as they say and get well.
@Weezilou actually we lived in Chicago for 4 years before we moved to Germany, as I completed my Ph.D. at Northwestern. We will be going to my wifes brothers wedding in Ann Arbor michigan for a few days, and then its home to spend time with our families. We are both from a speck on the map town in new york state right on lake ontario, about an hours drive northeast of Buffalo.
