On friday of our first week at home we went to visit with my brother and his fiancee at their new home and I took a walk down to his neighbors at sunset as I had just this shot in my head. I was running a little late so I had to literally run about 1km to get this shot just as the sun was going down. In our area these large silos are a very common sight as farming is really the only industry in our immediate area.
I actually had this shot in mind becuase of a similar shot I had just taken of the Aachen skyline: http://365project.org/harvey/365/2010-09-03 I thought it would be cool to compare the two in terms of where I did live and where I live now.
Love the comparison to Aachen! When I saw the title and took my first look at this picture, I thought the silhouettes were office buildings or sky scrapers! I love the fact that they are silos and other farm buildings.
Liked your top 20 issue message. However, the top 20 is a great way to get greater visibility and increase your feedback, which helps improve your photography. A slightly fairer system for that could help, but if it doesn't change it still works for me for the reasons you give. Good that you acknowledged Ross so strongly.
