30 Mile Point Lighthouse by harvey

30 Mile Point Lighthouse

I had perhaps my funnest day when I was at home this day. about 5km from my folks house on lake ontario is the historic "30-mile point lighthouse" built in 1875. It was featured on a US stamp in 1995.

We parked at a nearby park and hiked about 5km through the woods along the lake to get there, we had a look around and some lunch but the lighthouse was closed for the year so it wasn't that great. A park worker then drove by and my mom stopped him to ask a question and it turns out she knew the person. They offered to take us inside and give us a private tour for free!

So we had the chance to go inside the lighthouse, which is only open a few weekends a year, and we even got to go up in the tower and I got some great shots of the area, as the colors on the trees were nice and the clouds were great. After our private tour I set up my tripod and took a pic of my mom and I to remember our great day by.
How cool that you got to take a private tour! What a gorgeous view you had, and you really got some wonderful shots! Don't you just love it when things work out like that?
