Himalayan Balsam

Doodle a day #166: This morning Ben and I went 'Balsam bashing' on the Lickey Hills. Himalayan Balsam is an non-native evasive plant that likes to take over damp areas and destroy all other plants in it's wake.

Two or three times every year the Lickey Hills Society, along with the Ranger Service, organise small scale 'Balsam Bashes' whereby a group of volunteers spend an hour or two pulling up balsam from established areas. It is obviously working as they are less well established than previous years.

This evening we went to a barn dance to celebrate some friends 40th wedding anniversary. We got back fairly last so here is a very quick doodle of some Himalayan Balsam.
