Sunset Spectators

This is another photo from the commute the sky was gorgeous tonight after the rain and hail had cleared up. Sorry if this picture is a bit samey but hey, you know I like what I like. I did try take some pictures of the moon tonight as it was enormous and so clear but either me or my camera is not up to the task, it was an absolute failure. Anyone got any good moon advice?
This is stunning!

This is really, really beautiful. I love sunsets (who doesn't) but they're so difficult to capture accurately. Perfectly done :)

@shellbelle @tonygig @kirstyalexandra @woot Thank you for taking the time to comment. With all the hail we had today I never imagined that the day would end with such a burst of colour.

Not really samey, sunsets are alway different and why pass a good one up. I've got plenty of samey stuff.

Beautiful shot.

Very nice. How'd you get the trees to line up in such a well-behaved manner??

I'm trying to take moon pics on my cell phone so really I can't offer anything! It was so clear in the daytime the last few days...anyway, great sunset you got! The horizon line & cloud line in opposition with the tree silhouettes is really eye catching!

Stunning-- I have always loved sunset pictures . Really like your composition here.

I have no luck with moonshots-- but I have looked up the "exif info" for the best ones I have seen on this site and it looks like you need a 300mm zoom lens. But that is all I have found out. Have you tried search box -- I have found lots of information there on various camera topics

This is absolutely gorgeous David !! Not same same at all !! Me like like so please keep posting them. I haven't tried moon photos - at least not without my camera attached to a telescope - so I'm not helpful there.

Lovely sunset David, we were both lucky last night! The clouds always add to a sunset I think and it is no exception with your shot. The silhouette of the trees "Contre Jour" style make this a real stand out shot for me.

Re moon shots, I took one earlier in the year http://365project.org/seanoneill/365/2012-01-09 I am lucky enough to have a 500mm Sigma Lens. My advice is shoot in manual with a reasonably high F number say F9 and shutter speed (1/800) so that the moon isn't over bright. If it comes out too dark, you can always tweak the levels in PS or similar, or shoot in RAW to give you total control of the processing. Good luck.

This is beautiful! I like the sloping line of the land against the straight horizon, too. It's not "samey" at all!
