Spent the 4th at my Uncle's near the beach as we usually do. After dark, everyone heads to the beach and sets off whatever illegal fireworks they can muster. (We had about half a garbage bag full) It is generally a free for all and a great show - although it can feel a bit like a war zone. Last night we arrived at the beach just as these giant pickup trucks arrived and a group of guys, who can only be described as Tony Soprano's crew got out and started unloading boxes upon boxes upon boxes.... Like Moses at the Red Sea, the crowd parted in silent awe to let these guys get down to the roped off area they already had set up. What followed was the most spectacular (and close up) fireworks show I have ever seen! The crowd went wild. My husband heard them say they had around $20K worth of stuff. I don't know where you get that much money for fireworks these day, but I sure am glad they decided to spend it in my presence!!
