(Portraits of Me: Dance) Heading for Trouble

Let's get this one out of the way shall we?

I have been worrying for several days about what to do with the heading "dance" for 52 portraits of me. I'm not a dancer. My mother sent me to ballet lessons alongside my graceful petite sister, because it was what the doctor ordered on account of my two left feet. There is a long story about my childhood with shoes on the wrong feet, and a patch on one eye and walking round at playtime clinging on to the dinner ladies to avoid being bullied - but I'm sure I have told that before.

The only dance I can identify with is Zumba ( although I did do an urban dance class at the gym once - more for laughter than anything else). It seems that a large protruding bum, flapping arms and a heavy footed landing is rather acceptable in Zumba, and besides, I like the music.

So, to get in character, so to speak, I took myself to a Zumba class this morning, despite my decreasing ability to balance and arthritic ankle. Afterwards at home, I ran around hanging sheets on the garden wall, braving the cold in my skimpiest of gym tops and setting up a tripod cluelessly - all inspired by @summerfield's description of her portrait set up.

Lets just say I hope there were no neighbours peering over the garden wall.

There is much I didn't account for and I think I will be looking for an alternative set up next time. In any case, I chose, in post processing, to balance myself on this fine piece of cable spotted on my search of lines in pictures, when out the other day. I would give up any aspirations of wanting to dance, just to be able to balance a little, maybe enough to get my socks on and off when on one foot!

(Backgound was taken on 5 Feb, but the antics really were performed today!)

I'm also tagging for flashofred2018 because I'm hoping that you will all be captivated by the lines in the composition, rather looking at my shape.
Well done, a super capture. Fav!! 😀

Oh your narrative made me laugh! And oh to have been a fly on your outside wall! I have absolutely NO natural rhythm so dance/keep fit has always been a challenge. Fav.

Helen this is a wonderful picture and a wonderful narrative. Like the idea of walking on a virtual line enormously. And I like it when people tell more about their lives. After all, in addition to photography, I like the persons behind it. So a huge fav for me. May a give you a suggestion? Change the photo of your profile that makes you look severe, boarding on acidic. Not at all the personality that pervades your story above!

@caterina hi Caterina - thank you so much for your visit, comment and fav - it is always good to know that the writing is worthwhile. Thank you too for your suggestion. I see it and it is just me, and I perhaps do have a bit of a severe side. Still, I shall have a think and see what I can come up with, as I don't want to put people off at first glance.
